Just bought my third VF, my first and second were both 84/85 700's, but this one just caught my eye - it's an 84 VF1000F
    [IMG]

I replaced the starter motor and had some trouble with fouled plugs, then the fun began:
I hadn't ridden for 10+ years (wife, kids, etc.) and was so excited to ride again, I hopped on this beast and proceeded to "see what it could do." After a quick jolt forward, I was only hanging on by my right hand, which gave it more gas and ran it off the road...into a pole.... sideways.

No broken bones, and a week's rest later, I'm looking to restore the broken front end of this once nice bike. My wreck pushed the headlight assembly into the upper radiator, so I'm looking for those, the plastic and windscreen, and possibly the speedometer assembly. The forks are fine, the pole literally aligned right on the headlight, and the bike was sliding on it's left side when it hit.

I found the Fairing Stay at cheapcycleparts.com, but they don't stock the plastic anymore. I also just regained consciousness after pricing out the entire speedometer set, nearly $800.

So at this point I'm considering polishing up the original gauges, (the lense was cracked over the bottom right gauge, everything else is ok) buying the Fairing Stay for the front end and just fiberglassing a 1000R-style full-fairing set instead of rebuilding what I cannot find.

Is there any type of interchange-list for parts I could use on my 1000F? I like the kits here HONDA VFR750 1986-'88 INTERCEPTOR, VFR 750 fairings, bodywork, fairing, upper, lower, mid, seat side, race, street, fender, tail, undertail, tank but they're for the 750's.

I have so many questions I haven't found the exact answers for here yet, but I continue to dig and appreciate any info you guys can give me.

Hi and welcome! Sounds like a rough "get to know you" ride, but glad you are OK.
I'm not the biggest expert here, by any stretch, but I think that the VF1000F is pretty unique as far as parts go.
I've been eyeing a nearby 1000F as well. It was the first "fast" bike I ever rode, back in about 1986.

PS.. what Aberdeen are you from?

Aberdeen, Washington, thanks for the info, I was looking at hopit's GODLY VF1000R, and wondered if anyone's ever converted a 1kF into an R, or at least the front clip.

I've been spending more time on ebay, had honestly underrated that as a source for parts until now. I may be able to grab everything from a couple vendors on ebay for the amount of that fairing stay if I play my orders right.

We have "Bent Bikes" in Washington that I've been combing, but they mostly have the 700/750's if anything. And the front clip is considerably different on those. I had almost thought to use this opportunity to upgrade a few things on the Interceptor, but after finding used parts with no return policy I really didn't want to risk it for a nicer guage or dash, etc.

Welcome to the forum. And tough luck. Hope you find what you need to get the ol gal back in prime shape. I rode through your neck of the woods last May on my way south to Atascadero. I think I waved at you.

I am amazed at ebay for sourcing parts. The only real commodity seems to be the upper radiator which I pushed the headlight into and totally killed.
I ordered the fairing stay for the upper fairing, the throttle and switches, and both upper and lower plastic for about the price that I would have paid cheapcycleparts.com for the fairing stay.
Now assuming the dash is salvageable (I might just carbon fiber it to cover the blemishes) I'm only missing the sub-radiator to get it running again.
