    Hey Everyone,
Im in the process of stripping my 86 VFR700 completely to the frame..I have everything off except the kickstand..im trying to get the allen bolt with a big nut off..can anyone clue me in on what comes first..do i need to get the nut off first? if so do you know what size it is?

Also what do i need to get the swingarm off? Yes i feel stupid but hey im sure im not alone when it comes to a first time teardown on a bike..

As always thanks so much for your help..

30mm nut. It's only purpose in life is to hold the kick stand on. The bolt is secured on the other side of the frame with a self locking nut that will come of easily. The bolt on the other hand may put up an epic fight. It is quite large where it meets the frame and is prone to corrosion. Use a good (not worn) allen wrench to attack it and do not damage the bolt unless you are ready to replace it. Hell it may just jump oot for you but my but puckers when I need to tackle one. Good luck.

I think you will need a 12 and 14mm allen for the two swingarm bolts.

Just a follow up and in case you are removing the bottom engine bolt for the first time..oh yeah its no fun..thanks for the heads up Toe.

Heres what i did and she rolled out like butta! Heat the frame using Mapp gas and while shes hot give it a good spray of PB Blaster and a few good taps with a steel hammer..be patient and repeat the process as many times til the bolt lets go..being a 6mm allen head its very easy to ruin a bunch of wrenches in the process if you try to force it.

I just went through engine changing myself on my 86 700 last weekend, guess I was busy and didn't see your post then. When you put it back together make sure that you install the long bolt first and then the ones on the upper back next. The engine kind of swings up in place.
