Been trying to search the forums a bit but pretty tedious because the search function doesn't like the word "GPS" because it is too common :) My basic question is if yall have some advice on a good, decently priced gps that can be modded to a bike fairly simply. I am mechanically inclined but not very electrically inclined. And I refuse to pay 3x the price ($6-700) for something branded a "motorcycle" gps that may or may not be waterproof. I dont mind riding with a ziploc over the gps when it rains LOL. So in summation  , looking for standard gps that works well with a bike mount (i have heard RAM mounts are good but any recommendations are helpful) and can be easily "spliced" into the bikes power.

    Thanks,
    Byrds

I would suggest getting a Garmin T850 run around 150-200, mount will cost another $50.00

$#!+, I'm still waiting for a "small" one with a 3-4 hour battery so that I don't have to wire it to anything.

Ok, I bought the Ram center fork mount and I am going to start out trying to use my current car GPS and see how that goes. If it doesn't work I can always buy another GPS and buy a new cradle for $5 to fit it. I found this tho:

Amazon.com: CLA-NHWC: Universal Hardwire Cable with Lighter Socket and Power Switch for M...: Electronics

Which is pretty rad, no splicing required, easily removable, can be swapped out at midline for battery tender, and has an in-line power switch, all for $15.

I'll post some pics once it is all hooked up :)
