Been doing some riding since my purchase last week now that I know it's not going to overheat on me and all I can say is Wow. For the last year or so I've riding a 1973 CB750K with a 836cc kit and a mild cam. I thought that bike was really powerful but this thing is in another league. Steering is althogether different too as where with the 750 you kinda steer then lean the 800you definitely need to lean first or the steering seems to fight your input. The tires on the 800 need to be replace soon. I caught my first grooved pavement this evening and about crapped my pants. Never experienced that at all on the 750. I assume this is because more of my body weight is on the front wheel? Do different than stock tires help here? I was thinking Pirelli Angel's but the new Michelin 3's look temping too. Looking to do a radar detector and may GPS down the road. I'll research here some for opinions but if you want to post your thoughts here. Thank you. Great bike! so glad I purchased it. Ok sorry to babble; just random thoughts about the bike.

There are a couple members here running the Angels, and loving them. There's an entire thread devoted to those tires actually. I'm running Michelin road's and loving them. The old crayonish stock tires are most likely causing your high effort turning wowes, these bikes handle great for big heavy beast's with a nice set of rubbers.

NEW TIRES NEW TIRES....NEW TIRES. Truth be told I was not really happy with how this VFR800A handled. I was like "Where is all this handling prowess this bike is known for?" I simply believed my 1971 CB750 would take this bike on the twisties any day which was so much easier to drive all around. Sans the straight line power, I was like "What's the point in owning this bike?" Knowning the original tires were done, I researched their replacements and decided to go with the Michelin Pilot Road 3's, because these tires are gear towards this type of bike and my style of riding. WOW! totally different bike now that these are mounted.

I highly recommended anyone holding out for new tires to just bite the bullet and get them. If you're fighting the bike, it's time to replace the tires!
