Heading to Portland Maine for the May 20-22 weekend. I am planning to do a few extra days afterward and some exploring around the coast and/or the mountains in NH, VT, and NY states before making my way back into Ontario. I have spent a bit of time in the area and was wondering about any recommendations for riding. For any of you that might be in those areas, please advise of any great places to go or stay and any warnings about weather, roads, etc., would be appreciated. Thanks for the help,
If you are going to Vermont, the 108, 105, 118, 100 back to 108 loop is really nice. The best part in my opinion is riding 108 through the Notch. That is in between Stowe and Jeffersonville. Lots of nice roads up there... I will caution that I was up there a few weeks ago to snowboard and some of the roads in Vermont were not in that great of condition.
Ride through the White Mountains I live in Littleton, NH on the NH/VT border and know of many good rides up here. Also, my wife and I own a small motel, The Maple Leaf, if you're looking for lodging. If you're heading straight through from the Maine coast I suggest Route 302 out of Portland all the way to Littleton. In VT take Route 2 out of St. Johnsbury then Route 15 across Vermont to Burlington. However, if you want to wander around at bit, the options are many. Beware of small back roads as the frost heaves have yet to settle down.
Thanks whitemtnvfr Thanks guys, hey whitemtn, ever advertised your motel here for VFR's passing through? Appreciate the 411.
