Hi i'm considering options, one of which might be VFR - streetbike style, that is, remove fairing, maybe something like sp. triple H'lights , new instruments . . . ( yea, just not logical. but m'cycles are not, anyway)

is it somewhat feasable to remove the fairing, does the engine look OK without too much work hiding wires ,hoses, etc or is that pretty much not a ' casual do it yerself' project. I'd be thinking more last year of 750 version .
And ( part 2 of project) upgrade / change forks . . . I know with the good 'ole NT 650 Hawk, CBR F 3 forks /brakes are simple bolt in, work very well with Hawk. And you can actually use Fireblade forks / brakes with the 'blade triple clamps ( same fork pivot dimensions) . With VFR ???
I looked thru several pages of the 'mods' section, only found 1 mention . . .
    thanks Rick

someone just posted a pic of his bike stripped down the other day. it looked kind of like a confederate bike. it may have been in the 'ugliest' bike thread. I forget. you can see a pic of my VFR naked in my gallery as I had my plastics off after my lowside the other day.

Yea I agree, and I personally have never liked the Speed Triple's dual headlights, I always thought a big single headlight looked much cleaner.

Might want to reconsider that idea like freewheel says.. mm the 700f2 I had was okay while I was looking for lowers to be seen that way, but the new VFRs, well IMO leave a bit to be desired

    Hawker--Don't do it man!

It'll just look crashed. All the original naked bikes started that way:biggrin:. Remember the 93' CBR 900's running around naked!! If you want naked, buy a Monster or FZ1 or something, but as they say ... in the eye of the beholder:blah: :smash:

My friends got a FZ1 and it's a great bike. I hate to say it but I've considered trading my Viffer for one.

This VFR is the only fully faerd bike I've owned. I had a CBR600, but rode her nekkers. My VFR looks way better dressed.

Hi OK, I actually bought a Haynes servce book to study the possibility as best I could without actually owning one or knowing someone who does - Looks like making VFR into ' streetfighter' isn't feasable, without major commitment anyway. amoung other things- fairing attach points that are welded in place, wouldn't want to remove them . but leave option to put fairing back. Also, it looks like ( from pictures in book) the wiring for instrument panel -H/lights would take a shoebox to hide. and it looks like the engine is just a rough casting, no style there ( wonder if Honda recasts Magna engine, or if they put on some sort of stylized cover?). I don't have a dedicated work space, or the ability to redo the wiring, too bad.

I still sorta want to do this - I think it'd be a good bike - using the VFR 750 for its 'complete' frame and front radiator, not 800. A V 4, alumin. frame, Single Sw. arm, mini fairing , good performing bike ( I was going to try better forks /brakes, maybe fireblade 929 type, and Ohlins/Penske/ Fox shock + I like the angular Kaw. Z1000 mini fairing, looks real modern yet still 'clean', big enough to work, but no disraction from bare bike.)
Wish Honda would put it out. To me there are a couple gaps in Hondas model lineup right now - a ' streetfighter' ( 919 is too generic UJM, to me) and it seems to me there's a gap between the VFR and ST 1300, the 1300 sorta is Gold Wingish to me. that has become almost motorcycle legend, the V 5 1000 . . .

Has anyone considered using half fairing like VTR firestorm ?
As stated the electrics are spaghetti and would be like stuffing an octopus in a bag...
