Hey everyone, I put a fender eliminator kit on my 2000 and was looking to get more light onto the license plate. I was hoping to switch to white LED but have no idea what size the bulb is. The Clymer manual says 8W but that does not help me much. Has anyone done this before or know the bulb size (1156, 1157, etc) of the license plate light? It looks kinda small.

    Thanks,
    Primo

Primo, here is the link to what I used: LED Tag Botls. I got the black ones and then wired them into the existing wiring. I had to drill two small holes in the plastic above the plate, but you can't see. They work out really good in the dark, just bright enough.

just had mine apart yesterday, it is a standard 1156 bulb. Sinngle fillament with both locks located low to the base and both at the same level. I ordered an led one off ebay yesterday. Along with a pair of hid to lowered to wattage hoping to gain some light and reduce any possible RR failures.

well, now that I remember the olden days, there was two 1156's, this one in our bike has a smaller globe, almost perfectly round, I'm not sure if the longer one which is the standard size for lets say a tail brake light 1157 style would fit, O would guess no.

Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you sir. Let me know how the LED works out for the license plate light and where you bought it from. I appreciate the response,
