I have used this Tecnik for a few years now. As you can see it expands to quite the size. When zippered down it is still a decent size. In this photo, I had what I needed for a three day ride packed away. This was on the Kootenay 2010 tour.

    !!!
How do you ride with that thing? On the slab only? I need to put even a small tankbag on the tail for serious twisty riding.

I've got an RKA magnetic bag and it works great for me. It's several years old and does the job.

You are not the only one who has asked that. A few on the ride did too. I certainly could not really get into the hard twisties with that on. I could do a little spirited ride though. But I am not totally, or even close to being a hard core twisty person. Too old for that stuff as much as I would like to.

Just so you know, that photo shows it fully extended. It folds down to 1/2 that size, which it is where it is by far, most the time. Also I did not mention it had a map pocket that covered the full top so you could look at a large map surface rather than having to pull the map out.

It fits a AAA map folded down to one section, but its a tight fit.
As for the cell pocket, I did not buy an I-phone because it wouldn't fit in the pocket. But I've had my Rapid Transit Recon 19 for 3 years. They very well my have increased the size of the pocket to fit smart phones.

The Field Sheer Contour arrived yesterday. I put it together and it's HUGE. Just what I wanted. Weather has been either warm and pouring rain (2-3" a day) or cold and sunny. Waiting on some decent weather...

Update on the Fieldsheer bag: I have it running backwards, flat side pointing toward me, due to my GPS mount. It fits fine, has survived up over 110 MPH, and stores plenty. It looks good and has been a great addition to my VFR, especially due to the amount of rides that my g/f and I take on the bike. I highly recommend it, and it seems like the magnetic version that I have is on sale at several locations.

I guess I think of my tank bag as a glove compartment, not a trunk. So I use the two smaller CorTec bags. The "mini" is really small but works fine for my glasses, phone, and gloves. It's handy to pull off the tank and take it in a store with you.

Anyone ever have any problems with the magnets and cell phones or iPodtouch etc.? I'm paranoid and never put my phone in my tank bag. Is this an irrational fear? I hope someone can prove me wrong.

I don't have any trick I-thing, just an old basic cell phone. The magnets have never bothered then at all. I've been using three differnt phones for several years with the magnets / tank bags and no problems.

I'm no magnetic engineer, but it'd be my guess that as long as you put something (shirt, towel, book--whatever) between your phone/Ipad, etc. and the magnetic base you'd be ok (in other words, pack your phone/Ipod last). Ive thrown many-a phone &/or Ipod on top of stuff I'm carrying and I've never had a problem.

Never had an issue with my credit cards or phone (I have an HTC Thunderbolt 4G phone). Most bags I have run have additional pockets and or clear map areas where I store my phone and wallet.

Still doing great. No major issues. Slight stitching problem I could have someone fix, but nothing else yet.

Here's another bag that I would like to throw into the mix, and I recommend it highly - from Givi - Easy Lock Tank Bag
    TwistedThrottle.com : Givi Tankbag (T480 - Easy Lock) - Givi T480

side shot with givi.jpg top view givi.jpg
video: YouTube - GIVI EASYLOCK (and it's demo-ed on a VFR!)

With the attachment ring - comes off in seconds!
givi off top view snake skins.jpg

    The bag also expands. :thumb:

The design flaw is in the GPS plastic holder, it's difficult to see it- without taking your eyes off the road, and there is glare.
