Hey all, my name's Jon and I live in San Antonio. Just picked up a new to me 2000 VFR800 in yellow pearl. Got it for $2800 with 37k on the clock and a few little issues. No problem with the issues, I'm pretty handy with a wrench, repair manual and a search engine. :)

Looking forward to absorbing a ton of knowledge from this fine forum and becoming a productive member of the group!

Pic time, please ignore the garage, we had JUST moved in this last week and we're still waiting on our new furniture to be delivered.:

Of course comments and constructive criticisms are always welcome. If anyone happens to know of what undertail exhaust systems were made for the 5th Gens and can point me in the right direction to ID what's on the bike (will be happy to take more pics, and next time it won't be in a dark garage with a cell phone, LOL), it would be much appreciated!

Very nice looking ride Sir!!! The exhaust looks as though it may be the coveted Wolf Underseat exhuast. If it isn't a Wolf than it is a custom job. The Wolf underseat exhaust is very rare and no longer produced. There will be many members here shortly asking to buy it off you. It sounds beautiful, looks great and like I said, is pretty rare. The only know issues I'm aware of with it is that the tire can rub the exhaust if riding two-up hard. Again, nice looking ride.

Thanks for that info! Is there any distinguishing markings that I can look for that will help me ID if it's a Wolf system? Once I get a bit of extra time, I'll be taking some additional pics of it so if there's anything that can help, let me know.

Honestly I don't know. I've only seen the exhaust online already on 5th gen's. Shoot, I've never even owned a 5th gen! Just a 2nd gen and a 6th gen. That'll change though. I'd run a search on here or google though. I'm sure you'll find your answer.

Great info guys. Looks like I lucked out! Took the Viffer out yesterday for the commute, and then for a haircut after work (hippie-hair + helmet = no bueno), and loved every second of it. Aside from being eager to immediately respond to my every clumsy command, this bike is quite forgiving of newbie mistakes. I love it!

Welcome to the site. Looks like you picked up yourself one sweet ride for a fabulous price. I just turned over 73,300 miles on my 06, which of course is Fuel Injected, and am having no issues at all, so I think your 37K should be just a timing point on your clock to the future on this ride.

People here are pretty good with sound advise for the most part. Try using the search engines and checking out the Mechanics Garage for answers. I think you will find the more talented people frequent those threads. And answers may already be available to you.

Now if you really want to spend money....after the fact....I can work on your bike.

BTW, a clean garage is a sign of a sick mind. Here's my garage last night. And I moved in here 22 years ago:

It's only that clean because I just moved in. My garages are working areas, complete with jugs of old oil and tools that haven't been put away. ;) Give me a few weeks, and then you will have an idea of how my garage usually looks. ;)

Nice bike there. Where exactly in the San Antonio area do you live? Im actually on the Southside of San Antonio. We will definitely have to meet up and go riding sometime. I have a 6th Gen as some of the other members have stated on here as well. I have been looking for other VFR riders in the San Antonio area and havent found many, so glad to see another San Antonio VFR rider. PM me and lets try to plan a ride sometime.
