Hey all. My bike came with a PC II if I recall correctly. I had a PC at the time and changed the map for my exhaust and intake. I don't recall precisely, but I think it said I needed to run 93 Octane. Is this the case or can I run 87, 89? Issue is, I no longer own a PC (MacBook's are my thing) so I can't even reprogram it back to stock if that's what I had to do. I guess I can borrow a friend's laptop if all else fails, but figured I'd post here first.

I'm only getting maybe 170-180 miles out of my tank, so I am looking to get some better MPG's as well. Any other recommendations on that?

    Thanks.

I don't have the programmer at all. BUT, I always run premium gas through it once the temp reaches 75+ outside. Just because the compression ratio is a little high. Just a precaution. If you take out the programmer does it put everything back to stock?? I don't know what entitles putting in a programmer. I see the pcIII just unplugs the ECU and makes like a jumper for it. If you could do the same with that, you could just bring it back to stock that way. I get 45mpg on 4 gallons is 180. I've read a lot saying that was the average. Plus, I saw it in an old motorcycle mag, average mpg was around 45mpg.

also interested if you wanted to get rid of it? Just for something to play around with for me.... I love the way my vfr performs, just wondering what I could do to tinker with it......... cheap of course.

I had a pc II on mine when I got it and it went out on me I replaced it with a pc III and it is doing great now i haven't had a chance to see what my mileage is now but on the stock computer i was getting about 40 mpg and i have a heavy throttle wrist. But I really haven't found any really cheap performance upgrades other than maybe exhaust or power comander.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this Gen bike has 5.5 and 5.8 gallon tanks. Mine being a 5.5, and getting 180 per tank, equates to only 32.7 MPG?

Remeber when the gas gage flash you still have 1+ gallon for reserve.
The best way to find out is fill up, reset your trip meter to 0 ride untill your next fill up. Check to see how much gas you put in the tank. Look at your trip meter to see how many miles you have

Miles xxxxx devided the amount of gas xxxxx = MPG

Bases on your number it seem right to me.
