    Hello,
I'm finally getting back to the motorcycle world. I've always loved interceptors, especially the older ones, but I've found myself in a situation with a newer type project. Gonna be a big one or end up as a part out. I got a deal on a 93 vfr 750 that was put down pretty hard, I've worked on cars but this will be my first bike project so I have a couple basic questions to sort out what I got so far.

Is the 93 vfr 750 have a single or dual-sided swing arm?

Everywhere I've read keeps saying single but the bike I got has a dual on it, so I'm thinking before it got dumped somebody had already changed some things up on it. I wouldn't be too suprised since it was a track bike.

My other question is if there is a way to have the frame inspected to make sure it's still straight?

Any advice, comments or tips are welcomed, I can use as much information as possible.

    Thanks

First off congrats on the new project. Yes, the 93 is supposed to come with a single sided swing arm. If you have a duel sided, then it was probably replaced. I've heard of people swapping them out from other bikes, maybe a CBR. 2nd, I'm not sure about the frame. You could take it into a shop and let them take a look at it. That would be my only recommendation. I'm sure that there is someone else here that may be able to offer a better suggestion on that. A good piece of advice is check out the R/R (regulator/rectifier), the 3rd gens have their issues with OEM versions. Any extra cooling that you can get to it would help. Also if you're replacing it, check out the VFRness. Post up some pics when you get the chance. Good luck.

    Thanks Adam,
I will post pics soon. I still have to get the bike to my place, so I can work on it, so pics should be up later this weeks. Do you or anyone else have advice on where to find parts or even parts bikes for my new project?

Lol, I find all the parts overseas in the U.K. for 3rd gen's, just expensive shipping. REgardless, congrats on the new bike. I own a 92 VFR and yes, it has a single sided swing arm which means the guy switched it out. Second, if you sit the bike straight up on a lift and measure it from the fork to the end of the swing arm and its not straight, most likely something is out of plumb (bent fork or whatever.) Also, being a track bike, those things are driven hard so take an extra look at all the components that need replacing, aka: tires, pads, clutch, and fluids. Like everyone says on here, put a VFRness on it a.s.a.p, better safe than sorry

I know this may be a silly question but what is a VFRness?

Also any info on what parts are interchangeable between my 93 and other generations/ models would be great.

I don't know that anyone has compiled a database of interchangeable parts. Normally it's best to check one of the online retailers who posts expanded parts lists and compare part numbers from year to year.

Depends on what parts you're looking for. E-Bay is a great place. You can try Service Honda for some things. Some items you are just better off getting new. Also, I don't know where you are, but I live in CT and in Milford there is a motorcycle salvage shop that will get anything, you just have to give them what you're looking for either by name, part number or serial number. Their website is: Cycle Salvage. Take a look in your area and see if there is a salvage shop/yard close to you. Also, alot of place ship for a nominal fee. Good hunting.
