Just brought this home yesterday. Seems to be in great shape, although I thought I feel the power more when accelerating, although I must admit it likes to go fast, and gets there before I realize it.

I have one question, there is a toggle switch on the left hand fairing facing the rider within riding reach that I have no idea what it is toggling. Anyone know? You can see it in the second pic if you go straight down from the H in honda on the tank.

    Nothing factory there.

Nice, clean example. Forks have been rebuilt, as they as orginally painted red.

It looks great. I never get tired of this bike. Yes, the bike definitely has got some good HP. It defnitely feels more powerful than my 800. You've even got the stock exhaust which is extremely hard to find in good shape. I wonder if that toggle switch is for the fan. Overall, you've got a great find that looks to be in great shape. Congratulations.

Great looking VFKR. So purdy. Mine has a toggle for the fans but it's on the right side fairing (opposite of yours). Obviously not factory.

Thanks gents. So the forks have been been rebuilt? Thanks for the heads up! There is a great fork guy here near Asheville in case i needs a look.

I have noticed a lot of little stuff that just proves that the 28K on the clock are for real. Sometimes I really wonder what someone was doing when they fixed something on the cheap! I found the alternator coupler smoking after returning from a ride in which she stalled and wouldn't start for 1/2 hour and a look see resulted in finding the alt coupler melted inside and full of corroded plastic (lots of grainy sticky buildup). It had been taped up a couple times, and zip tied back to the frame. Does anyone know what type of connector this is? I will need a female and male end. Perhaps I can replace with out the housing if this coupler is no longer available? Any comments?

Ah.... the infamous alternator/regulator connector meltdown. Um... they all do that sir. You can replace the connector, or you can do what many (including me - on my V65 Sabre) have done and solder the wires together and insulate them thoroughly. That connector really doesn't have much relevance unless you plan to take the bike apart.

Check the regulator/rectifier before you button things up.

Oh, btw, I'm waiting for delivery of my '86 VFKR, same color scheme, similar miles. :)

The toggle was for voltage, I am guessing heated gear. One PO was from NY.
