I really didn't want to sell her but at the same time she sure looked sad and lonely watching me ridding the VFR 1200 all the time. Sunday when I returned from my ride to Panama City Beach hopped on the Nostalgia took my last little ride on her. Wanted to give the new owner the service manual in a PDF format so I burned it to a CD and as a surprise bonus the South Park episode where they lampoon Harleys.

Now I can look into getting the luggage boxes for the VFR.

Are the Honda matching cases worth the money?

    Thank you,

    Jeff

Oh damn, full convert now  IMO the factory bags for the 1200 are a bit on the small side, looks like they won't fit a full face helmet in them while closed.

If you're looking for a touring setup, you can do better for luggage, but I like the way they look, and I pack light. The top case will hold a full face (but not much else); neither side case will hold a helmet.

For me, the 3 hold plenty for a cross country trip, but as I said, I pack light.

You may miss the HD from time to time, but I think you made the right choice. ...that's an expensive paper-weight to have just sitting in the garage! :) Glad to hear you're digging on the V12!!!

My wife's Shoei RF1100 helmet fits fine in the left pannier...

I think the factory luggage is brilliant - one key, and it all fits very close to the bike - you don't know it is on.

    Cheers from Oz

I'm just not sure if I want the panniers maybe just the top box for having a place to secure stuff in but I really like the looks of the bike without anything on her. When I road a Triumph T100 all that I had was a smallish old fashion looking tool bag bungee corded on the rear which worked great for day trips and a backpack for longer trips but the down side is they are harder to secure but I have a cable lock that at least would slow a thief down some.

    Not in a rush

I stand corrected, I didn't think one would fit in the 1200 luggage, thanks! And :welcome:

Hey - thanks for the welcome! I probably should say Hi in the introduction section.

Anyway, there is a bit of a trick in getting the full face Shoei to fit - it needs to go in "sideways" - that is with the opening (where you stick your head in) facing the rear wheel - and with the visor looking toward the back of the bike. Then you still need to make sure you get it set right. That said, it's easy once you've done it a couple of times - I need to put together a few photos or video and post that.

Haven't tried my Shoei (RF-1100) as it is a larger shell size - but it fits fine in the top-box, and that works for us.

We are getting the bike set-up to do a 4 month tour of Europe next year (two-up) - so that should answer the question of how the luggage works!

Also, sorry for hijacking the thread...

    Cheers from Oz
