    Fellow VOO-DOOERS,

I have a 2006 ABS Interceptor and during stop and go traffic I sometimes get alittle brake pulsating when applying the front brakes. Is this a problem any of you have had and if so what kind of resolution could you suggest?

If it is doing it constantly or getting worse,
    - You might have a front rotor warped or bent. To check it, put the bike on the side stand and use a front wheel stand to get the front wheel in the air.
Spin the wheel by hand and see if you can see if one of the front rotors is moving side to side. (I had one like that) If so, you need to plan to replace that rotor.

If it happens when you are braking hard, it just might be the ABS kicking in, which would be normal. You might have a bike on the sensitive side of the threshold though.

FWIW ....06 ... should be under warranty; talk to your dealer. I have an 05 and have felt no pulsing, even when I make it come on in gravel. According to the mags, this abs is really smooth in operation (no real pulsing). Also, the abs shouldn't be on below 6 miles an hour (don't know how slow you're going in stop & go).

    Guys,
The bike only has 847 miles on it so I don't think it's the rotor. It might just be the ABS breking itself in. This is a first for me so keep the info coming. thanks

you should only feel pulsing when you engage the ABS, or something is wrong. Are you engaging the ABS that often?

mello dude pretty much nailed it however, some dragging (light) is normal. you should get a swooshing sound as the brakes touch the rotor when you spin the wheel. this is normal, try the same thing on a car. now if you are rolling at about 5 to 10 mph and dragging the front brake lightly, the bike grabs then lurches, you have a problem.

I have engaged my abs numerous times (on gravel, wet roads, and dry roads,) and have never felt any sort of pulsing. It is not like a car's abs at all. I think it is supposed to be smooth as silk, which mine is. I would have it looked at by a professional as soon as possible. You don't want to kill yourself when the brakes fail because you were waiting for them to "break in."

I'm with Mello Dude, been there, done that when someone tried to take mine and rolled it off the centre stand which rolled my disclock around to the caliper and the rotor carrier bent. At least my bike was still there, although on its' side. Pulsing was subtle at first, then got worse and I could eventually feel it even without braking.

The problem can be even easier to see if you spin the wheel with the caliper(s) off the rotors.

Correct the issue some way soon or you're probably also looking at new pads, etc.

Unless something similar has happened, should be a dealer issue.
