I think it is a huge dishonor to protest our fallen servicemen. Imagine what the families go thru having to put up w/ that, having their son / daughter killed in action.
maybe they should be hauled away with a rope tied to the back of a bike. IMO the protesters should be shot.

+1 to 02. Although, like any other organization there are the spotlight hogs. There are those that just want to have the right thing done.

But then again, why don't they do like what is done with the presidential parade. Yes, you are allowed to protest, but way on the other side of town, where nobody can see you. Happens every time the pres comes to town. Protesters, over there. Waaaaaaay over there.

I can see the side that the supreme court took, free speech and all, but I thought that you freedom ends when it begins to encroach on someone else's freedom as well. There has GOT to be a limit somewhere.

Also, with this approved, why can't we go protest at their church? Shout things to that congregation as they are headed into the church for their worship? Had out gay/lesbian pamphlets like the p0rn dealers do in Las Vegas? How funny would that be? And when I say congregation, I mean the pastor's family. That is most of them anyway.

This is a story I have followed for some time and it does renew my faith in people but am truely suprised that the protesters have not been sniped, beaten or raped with a white hot fork tube.

Toe shows true creativity, it would never cross my mind to heat the fork tube first.

    Soooo......hmmmm

Crazy hate filled tiny group of nutbags creates situation that winds up in a Supreme Court decision, a body of judges usually reserved for important things like, oh , whether cops can lock you up for no reason or if you may own a firearm.

And they say just one person cant make a difference

Group of folks that like to play dress up and ride black and white TV tech bikes decides to play guard, ok, good on them.

Thereby creating the unintended consequence of supporting gay people by proxy. Not something they set out to do, but nobody said these things are easy.

All this without even questioning why we put people half a world away in harm's way. Sorry, question not allowed.

Their are more layers to this than an onion. Each point of this could generate a doctoral thesis in behavioral psychology.

    Freighted with emotion.

    Only in America.

From a lefty's perspective, it's very refreshing to see one religious group demonstrate some lucidity by standing up to, and drowning out, an insane fundamental cristian group like the WBC.

I have heared of this group before and I commend them for what they do to help shield the families from such poorly directed hatred towards our heroic fallen soldiers and their families. I have thought about riding with these people and would still love to. I have the feeling that I would be torn between holding the flag up to block the idiots and might start beating them with it instead though.

I think its great that these guys are doing this. I have not served our country but have all the respect in the world for the men and women that do. I think it is absolutely ridiculous that these people are allowed to do this, the reason we have our freedom is because of our military members, therefore if you have a problem with that, leave, noone is forcing them to live here. I would love to ride with those guys if the opportunity presented itself. honestly though, I do not know if i would be able to stay calm and professional, shows a lot about the families of these soldiers that are able to stay composed, i would spend a few nights in jail.

I also think that if any of these protesters dies, there should be an uproar of people absolutely ruining the funeral. Some may say well then you are just stooping down to their level, too damn bad.

    1) Patriot Guard = Awesome

I really would like to become a member of this particularly fantastic organization. There is one little problem. I simply do not have the temper to subject myself to such heckling and protesting the likes of which the Patriot Guard are foced to deal with. Simply put, I would monkey stomp the first idiot that decided to tell a grieving mother that her son, who gave his life serving his country, is burning in hell.

    2) As someone who has dedicated his entire adult life to supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, I simply can't say person X gets to says what they want because I agree with them, but person Y doesn't get their fair say because I don't agree with them.

That being said, I think the westboro fuktards are scum on the most fundamental levels. Whether or not they are scum & regardless of what they say, they are entitled to the right to say it. What they ARE NOT entitled to is the right to disturb the life, liberty & pursuit of happiness of other citizens. That reason & that reason alone is where I disagree with the ruling of the Supreme Court.

    3) Freedom of Expression is just what is implies, the freedom to have your say, to speak your piece, to have your voice heard. I simply wish all those that choose to exercise this right would think a little before they do.

    KC-10 FE out...

OH, GOD bless 'em, I say. Any occasion to ride.

Best American way to show off your expanding gut, sagging trousers and suspension , old bluecolar oil-drippin' Harley, faded blurry tats, your $47 Harley shirt- made-in-China replica, black leather & fringe, 3Rd. Brigade Armored Artillery ball caps, Chinese chrome and patriotism and then drink beer for the rest of the day since July's Vietnam vet's parade or your weekend in Sturgis.

I gotta agree on free speech, but Westboro (a CULT WITH NO FOLLOWERS !!) most want attention and know how to get it. Seems they claim to be more "moral" than average people and want everyone to know. Good for them, i say; the less booze they drink, the more for the rest of us. So they'll get to stand in the short lines to get into heaven. But the only countries that don't have room for weirdos are tyranies.

The lord hates the sin, not the sinner. These people do not represent the bible in no way. These people are just uninformed bafoons and do not represent the true christian walk.

Too bad for the need to have the PGR's in the first place, but glad they've taken up the cause to protect the families of our armed forces. My solution would be to load those protest bastards on a C-17 and air-drop 'em North of Kabul. Let 'em protest to the Taliban. On the way over they would have "Lone Survivor" read to them so they'd know what they're in for. Some people either have no idea or no appreciation for the sacrifices made for them so that they can carry out their idiocy.

Yep, seems no one saw anything and the investigation "had gone cold". Even better, the poor souls had a real hard time getting their van repaired. They've since stated McAlester is gonna "suffer God's Wrath for persecuting the righteous"...

Westboro protesters face jeers and slashed tires

McALESTER - Members of a Kansas church that protests at military funerals may have found themselves in the wrong town Saturday.

Shortly after finishing their protest at the funeral of Army Sgt. Jason James McCluskey of McAlester, a half-dozen protesters from Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., headed to their minivan, only to discover that its front and rear passenger-side tires had been slashed.

To make matters worse, as their minivan slowly hobbled away on two flat tires, with a McAlester police car following behind, the protesters were unable to find anyone in town who would repair their vehicle, according to police.

The minivan finally pulled over several blocks away in a shopping center parking lot, where AAA was called. A flatbed service truck arrived and loaded up the minivan. Assistant Police Chief Darrell Miller said the minivan was taken to Walmart for repairs.

Even before the protesters discovered their damaged tires, they faced off with a massive crowd of jeering and taunting counterprotesters at Third Street and Washington Avenue, two blocks from the First Baptist Church, where the soldier's funeral was held.

Miller estimated that crowd to number nearly 1,000 people, and they not only drowned out the Westboro protesters with jeers, but with raucous chants of "USA, USA."

A few motorcyclists interspersed among the crowd also revved up their engines to muffle the protests.

More than two dozen law-enforcement officers - state troopers, sheriff's deputies and city police - formed a security cordon around the Westboro protesters.

"We're here to protect everyone," Miller said.

Westboro members picket military funerals across the country, spreading their message that "God hates America" because it tolerates homosexuality.

I saw a lot of flags being held very proudly there. I think they should face plant those protesting bastards on the ground and ram those flag poles up their fucking asses so that your flag can wave with all its glory in the free wind, provided for you, thank you very much, at the expense of so many very brave men and woman, be they straight gay or otherwise.

And sorry, but I don't agree with dropping them out of a helicopter over near Kabul. My heroes are over there and they would put themselves in harms way to try to protect those who are a total waste of valuable air.

I agree with a persons right to protest in a reasonable and lawful fashion. But for the love of God, at someone's funeral? That Marine died to protect those puss heads right to protest. They could bow their heads and give thanks, then go protest somewhere else.
