Hey guys, I'm looking to change the mirrors on my '88 fj and am looking for something that bolts straight on without any other alterations. As you will know the mirrors on the fj are awful with restricted rear vision, are there any mirrors that give good vision and are easy fit? I only want to change these for touring purposes and dont want to damage the fairing or make any holes anywhere so your advice is appreciated. Cheers Jase
You're mirrors mount the same way as my R. I didn't like mine either. Take out the screw from the bottom section of the mirror, this will allow you to remove the mirror from the mounting stalk. Get an aftermarket mirror that suits your needs that has an 8mm or 10mm(can't remember, measure you stock post)threaded post. Wrap the treads in something like thread tape. I used a small bolt to replace the screw so I could really tighten it down. I reused the trim washer from the stock mirror to cover the rubber grommet on the fairing. Looks way better and give me a little better view.
Thanks man, thats a great help. I'll take a look at what mirrors i can find, yours are great by the way. Cheers from a cold and rainy London. Jase.
