Route 8 north towards 81 is a good road if you intend to stay in that immediate area. Do a google search on Tuggles Gap Va. This is the sportbike hangout around here. If you venture more north, 311 from Salem to Paint Bank, Va is a great ride. A loop starting at Willville that will take you on these and some other great roads all around the area would be route 8n to Floyd, pick up 221n to Bent Mountain and on to Roanoke where you will catch 419n. Take 419n to 311n. ride 311 to New Castle where you will take 42 (w?) to Newport. At that point you can take 460e (interstate) to Christiansburg back to route 8. That is a pretty easy loop to follow. 419 and 460 will be 4 lane and interstate respectively, but certainly tolerable for the amount of time you will be on them. Enjoy.

add>> BRP will cross 221 @ Bent Mountain, so this can give you even more options in this loop.

So who's ready to ride? More specifically, who's ready for the "Usual"? I know its kinda far for the northerners but if you can handle a full day's ride its worth it.

What's everyone's track plans? Looks like TPM, some NESBA, and a little Cornerspeed for Jay and I.

What did you do with your suspension?

$100 for some springs will change your life.

Nothing. It is just stock with 26k on it. Front isn't the issue its the rear. While you can rebuild and respring the shock, it could be just a few $ more for a whole new one.

Right now im just going to tear down and service the front. But that ould change soon and i may add springs to go with the service.

Been doing alot of work at a property I bought to build on during the weekends. Combine that with the urge to do some trail riding with my son this summer and track riding for me and it could be a difficult summer to meet up with anybody for a ride.

The only confirmed track time I have at at the moment is VIR (South/North) April 3-4 with TPM. I've done the Full, North and Patriot but I've never been on the South course before so that will be a new experience. Anybody tell me if the South is good, not that I've ever been to a bad trackday

South is very good! It's an easy track to learn and improve on because it is relatively short but has a lot of diversity. Check some YouTube videos before you go to get the layout down.
Aren't you in Richmond MattB? If so would you be interested in going to VIR together that weekend? I'm doing both days.

A most glorious day for riding today... Unfortunately, I have suddenly been reminded of my age. Last Saturday night I decided to replace all the door knobs in my house; after an hour or so leaning over putting the screws into the door knobs, by neck and shoulders were getting pretty sore, but I thought "no big deal, I'm getting a little older, it's to be expected..."

The next morning, I awoke myself very early for me on a weekend, literally almost screaming in pain. Turns out I did something really bad, and pinched a nerve in my neck. I was literally laid up in bed for like 2 days, on muscle relaxers and horse pills of Ibuprofen. It wasn't getting better, so I finally went to a chiropractor; who could do little for me, because the swelling was so bad in my neck. Turns out, you shouldn't put heat on a pinched nerve, even though it made the muscle relax and eased the pain, it also made the swelling worse. After another day of bed rest and ice, it finally clicked and the bone got off the nerve. I am just now starting to get full range and almost no pain out of my neck, after a week.

I have had a lower back/nerve issue since a car accident in 2002, but it only bothers me about once a year, and I know how to put it back now, so it's not bad. I have had shrapnel in my back, and it did not hurt as bad as that nerve pain in my neck.

At any rate, I wasn't about to try to wear a helmet and hold my head up while riding, so I had to watch motorcycle racing on TV all day, and just look outside longingly...

    Sucks getting old.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Thanks for the information on VIR South, looking at the layout on the website I couldn't determine if it would be a hoot or not, good to know.

As much as I'd love to travel together, I'm afraid I can't now as I have canceled my days at VIR for April 3-4. Seems that I've bought another bike (in Texas) that I'll be riding home over that same weekend. I'd have picked another weekend, but I'll be within 150 miles of the bike for business the week prior so it only made sense to combine the trip.

You said it...west. The Trail in King and Queen county is a good road and pretty close to your area.
