    Probably not much help, but.......
A member that made risers suggested that new owners ride the bike for a while before making a bunch of changes.
    Pretty good advice.
On that note, I just went for my first ride with my Genmar risers installed on my 2004 VFR.
Given that I was only able to ride for a couple of hours and about 90 miles, but I'm not sure I saw all that much difference in riding position.
I think my change in riding style, (hugging the tank with my knees and supporting my body with my back), made more difference in comfort than the risers did.
I don't regret making the change, but I think I would have adapted to the original riding position anyway.
You might want to consider logging a few miles before you invest in risers or higher clip-ons.

Sorry, no '83 VFRs. That was back in motorcycling's late Dark ages and before the modern era.

What you have is a VF, and best of luck with it as those early bikes almost destroyed Honda's quality reputation forever, which lead to the development of the VFR in '86.

After that...... in 1990 there was the superlative bike that Honda called " The result of a decade's perfection " ( or something very similar) and proclaimed it on a label affixed to the bike !!!!

I'll let the Honda history scholars chime in to identify this ultra-rare masterpiece???

Like everything else with vintage motorcycles, you will have to improvise. I'm waiting to pick up my '83 750 this coming Saturday so I am not sure of the bar configuration. You may be able to make space plates that will fit under the bars at the yoke. That's what is done for my ZX14 but I don't like the set up for that bike.
