I like how the angles on the can seem to mimic the angles of the bikes design.

    Will do Heros.

She really doesn't look like too much right now (I've got her all torn apart and laying around in about a gazillion pieces) but I'm hoping to have her done by late spring/early summer.

I kinda screwed up and got myself mired way too deep in the minutia,I've got an entire myriad of insignificant little details that I want to get just right.

Got my fingers, toes, and basically just about everything else that I can crossed that I'll actually have her done by then.

Seems like only yesterday, but it's actually been almost two years now since she's left the garage.
Trust me,I WANT my "Pretty Girl" back on the road. :hump:

So stay tuned my friend,I guarantee you she'll be good for at least a coupla good bellylaughs.

Stosh, be sure to post up with a picture of you on the bike in your gear also. Want to see the whole package. Maybe some action shots in a good lean.:2guns:

That's the reason I went with these. The lines look like they were made for the bike.

Okay... can I just say HOLY CRAP!!? Got the Staintunes installed last night... not only do they sound awesomely incredible, but such a HUGE difference on the feel of the bike! I thought it was smooth before, but with the Staintunes and new map, it's even smoother and there is nothing holding her back now!! I really didn't expect to find such a major performance improvement!! I'm not saying it's faster or more anything, but just the smoothness and lack of "choking" has amazed me!!

It was late when we were finished... I didn't get back home until about midnight... so I was tired, but at some point, I will take pics and video and post it up.... :)

Glad to hear they worked out - that's awesome. I was wondering what map you used on the Power Commander?

Yannoooo... just speaking from my experience with the S-Tunes so far... if I had known what they would do, I would have gladly paid $1300.00 for them when I first got the bike instead of waiting 2.5 years for a deal. They are extremely light... I held the pipes with slip-ons attached, easily in one hand (I'm a weakling). The original pipes were very heavy and I had to handle with both hands. Maybe other materials would be lighter, but I can't imagine them being so much lighter to make a huge difference over the S-Tunes. Also, they came off an '02 bike and the PCIII has a date on it from 2003. I'm assuming that the pipes have been on the bike as long as the PCIII, probably since 02 or 03. Because they are stainless steel and don't have the packing, they look and sound brand new, and I will get lots more good years out of them, without any maintenance except the occasional cleaning. I don't think you'll get that kind of life out of other pipes without maintenance. I think as far as sound, it boils down to personal preference. The Two Brothers do sound nice, but for me personally, even if they didn't have that goofy "imposter pipe", they are too loud for my taste. The Leos are nice, but they just don't seem to have the same "crispness" that the S-Tunes or even the Two Brothers have. The S-Tunes provide a really nice, crisp rumble without being too loud, which is what I was looking for. Again, I'm not knocking any others, it's just a personal preference and I'm saying what mine is. For me, it would definitely be worth it to pay $1300 for these pipes, and if I got another VFR that didn't have S-Tunes, I'd gladly make the investment if I couldn't find a deal. With other bikes I've had, no it wouldn't be worth it because I've typically gotten bored and sold bikes within 3 years or so. However, with 24K miles on this VFR in a little over 2 years, I'm still loving it and expect to have it to well over 100K, so in this case, the investment of $1300.00 would have been worth it... I'm just glad I was able to pay half that.
I am definitely going to sell the PCIII that came with it. There is one person from this forum who PM'd me about it, and he has another possibility. If he doesn't get back to me in the week, it's open for sale again. Just gotta let you know that the date on it goes back to 2002, so I'm sure software has been updated for these things since then. Also, it uses a serial port, not USB. I don't think any of that makes too much of a difference in the long run, but you should know. And no, it didn't come with the cable, but I'm sure you can get one easily. Check with me at the end of the week and we'll see what we can do. :)
I just used the standard map for Staintunes from the Power Commander site. I got a PCIII a couple years ago and already had my guy here replace the O2 sensors with resistors, which is the same thing as the O2 sensor kit, so that part was already done.

Install question - does the rear wheel need to be removed to remove the stock exhaust or install a new one (Leos, 2 Bros, Staintunes, etc) ?

No, All of them are about the same.. Remove the rear cowl (you will need to unplug the tail lights, be careful with the wires and note how they unclip from the plugs, use a bright light to see how the tiny strange clips come apart and how they work) Unbolt the lower pipe clamp. Find the one attaching bolt on each muffler at the frame tail and remove each. Comes out as one big heavy assembly. Read your directions that come (hopefully with your new pipes) Done. I had to use high temp silcone sealer at the pipes and clamp but most don't call for this. Get a Pc3 or 5. Some say you don't need one but you do. I had to plug the pair valve to get my FMF"S not to pop on decel ( this is also stupid easy). Just take your time, its really no biggie. Remember metric tools only. no adjustable wrenches either.

I have LV carbon. They are lightweight and sound great. Sound gets deeper as they wear in.

    Mounting instructions are ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS!

So the Leo Vince SBK Evo II Dual Alum Slip Ons arrived this morning. Two hours later they are on and buttoned up. Several people have commented on the worthlessness of the directions, and I would have to agree. You are better off printing the larger exploded view .pdf off their website for reference and ease of viewing.

I unplugged the 5 tail light connectors, removed the grab-bars, unscrewed the four screws holding the rear cowl in place and slid the cowl off. Easy. I removed the license plate fender as well - (4) 10mm screws on top, (2) 12mm screws underneath, Easy. Removed the allen screws on the bottom exhaust clamp, unscrewed the bolts holding the mufflers on, and it slid off nicely.

Attached the Leo pipes in order, followed by the mufflers - not securing any of them or attaching the springs. I used the Leo spacer on each side and longer bolts, but maintained the rubber exhaust mounts. Not sure why you would use the replacement solid aluminum ones Leo gives you. Seems like you would want any vibration dampening you could get... I tweaked the alignment here and there, began snugging everything up, attached the springs, reassembled the fender, rear cowl - and that's it. Did not attach the metal stickers - seems cheesy putting a sticker on the exhaust pipes. Personal preference, but I think they look classy without. I used one of the stickers on my central vac unit in the garage. I think it may have gained about 10hp... :)

Looks great, sounds awesome, perfectly aligned. Like anyone who has replaced the stock exhaust, I was amazed at how heavy the OEM one was. Nice to cut some top heavy wait. Power Commander and O2 eliminators tomorrow...

Now, I have to list the OEM exhaust on eBay. Only 600 miles, in mint shape if anyone has interest. Will post some pics shortly too.

^^^ Good to hear, I'm glad you're liking it thus far - same goes for "vfrchick". Replacing those Titanic like OEM smokestacks is something I wish all 6 gen owners could experience. All of the other tangibles aside, the sound alone is a major benefit. I've never seen a 100hp bike turn so many heads.

DNRDNI, I couldn't sell my perfect condition OEM's for $50. I had several offers to take them off of my hands for free, "they'd even pay for shipping". I expect that you'll find a similar result. My experience lead me to believe that re-installing them for a potential sale of the bike, then selling the aftermarkets seperately, made the most financial sense. No one really wants to replace OEM with another OEM.

Noted. Good call on the keeping to re-install if ever sold. Same thing for the PCIII I suppose.

    Great, but WE NEED PICS!!!

I just installed a Werkes Competition fender elimin kit. My Alaska license plate just barely fits in between the Leo Vince cans - but it "werkes" just fine! Ha-ha!

BTW, I agree with havcar - just keep the stock exhaust if you have the space. I have kept all the original parts over the course of my upgrades - well, I gave the stock saddle away because it is The Great Satan of saddles. I didn't even want it lying around in the garage giving off bad vibes!

I have the 2 Bros Stash on my '07. It has a deep sound like a little V8. It also gives me a place to put a few things since I don't have bags on the bike.

    Hi.
    Here is another possibility ...
    IXIL
Bought a pair for $650 over a year ago and totally love 'em. They come with several inserts so you can choose your level of "bubrble". :)
weigh less than half of the stock mufflers and a noticeable power gain. No mapping required.
One thing I'm going to do is add an extra 3/4 inch to the "up pipe" to tuck them up slightly more as the rear tyre has rubbed on the cross pipe when two up on a very bad road.

I went with a set of Scorpion slipons with the edge style outlets, bought them used from another VFR website that had them for less than a year, they sound great.
