Ok, so I've had my 2006 Honda Interceptor since 2008, so actually I've had the bike for 3 years now. 35,000 miles later all I can say is I still love this bike! All the bike dealers here know me because I usually trade a bike in after I've had it a year, so I must really love this damn bike! I had the valve 'inspection' done at 25,000 miles. One intake and two exhaust valves out of spec - barely! But when he tuned it and I rode it I actually noticed the difference, mostly in cold start-up and running. Cost me $900. I can't say that's bad for 3 years service! At 35,000 miles I finally replaced the chain and sprockets with an RK gold chain and a sprocket set from Parts Unlimited... not that they even really needed it yet, but I was playing it safe. Could have done another 10k probably if I was strapped for cash. Cost installed - $240. I only adjusted the chain TWICE during the entire time - credit the single-sided swingarm for that. No slippage at all. I've replaced brake pads twice with EBC's, and again, not that they needed it. Tires replaced normally at about 7k miles, but I bought a set of Pirelli Angel ST's at 23k miles and I still have them on the bike! That's 12k miles and still going! And from the looks of them I have a good 3k or more left on them! I asked my mechanic about them and he said he'd be glad to put on a new set for me and sell the old ones to someone in need of a good set of used tires! Traction has not suffered at all. The tires are just as sticky as when new, with no hard centerline whatsoever on the rear or front tires, no cupping, and no uneven wear. When I finally replace this set it'll be with another set of Angels! Stock seat, still comfy even on 3-4 hour jaunts. Considering getting a Sargent saddle to see if it stops the forward progression of my manhood against the tank a bit better than the stock seat, but for touring the stock seat's just fine. The clutch side grip is loose so maybe a new set of grips soon, probably a set of gel grips - I have large hands. Still have the stock bars, no plans to get risers. I'm 6'2", 180# with a 35" inseam. The bike's a good fit and pretty relaxed actually for my long legs. My stock hard cases are still water tight. The bungees inside could use replacing as they are pretty stretch out. I use it to grocery shop... a lot... lol. When I bought the bike I put in an K&N air filter, and Power Commander O2 sensor elliminators. I have not experienced any loss of power in the 3 years of ownership and the sensors cured the hesitation at low revs and also the slight surge at 4500rpm. I am still in love with the stock exhaust sound. No mods there or planned for the future. Changed a low beam myself... what a bitch! I did both at the same time so it would be a long time before I have to do THAT again! I have the stock screen, a ZG touring dark smoke, and a Givi touring windscreen. The later is my preferred choice and has been on the bike for the past year. I don't go out on weekends much tearing up the twisties, but I consider myself an urban commando, and the Interceptor is a perfect urban assault vehicle. I've done things on this bike that make me turn white, and smile so wide that I find that after 3 years I am still pushing the bike, and myself. Can't say as I pay much attention to speed limits. Been pulled over twice and warned, and they always chat with me about riding and about my bike. I do have an eye on a 2011 Ducati Monster 796. I just wonder what the same displacent on a bike that only weighs about 300lbs would do to my adreneline around town. But for now, I am stilll smiling everytime I take the bike to work or across the state. Rock solid build, no rattles at all. Yep, quality bike. Hell, I'm even considering the new Honda 250 for some fun, but it looks too much like a baby VFR1200 for my tastes. All in all... this bike's an all rounder, and a winner. I want a new bike, but I can't see myself trading it or selling it!
I too have traded all the bikes I have owned after a year and a half or so. I have no plans to trade this one, why would you?...Thanks for the great report.
I had a 2000 and traded it after 18 months, but I'm back with A 2007 and plan on keeping this one a long time.
