Can anyone tell me the difference between the VF1000R and the VF1000F swingarms.

I've seen some VF1000F's with the VF1000R swingarms and I'm wondering what exactly they gained from the swap.

The F swingarm section is smaller but it's a solid arm, the R's is larger but has openings through the arm. The main thing is the F has the top mounted caliper torque arm, the R's is underneath and I think the l-r dimension at the axle is slightly different for different hub/caliper bracket sizes between the bikes. The pivot is the same as I recall so it's easy to just swap the whole swingarm if you want the R wheels. I did one but it's been a few years...

    Thanks for the reply.

When I bought this bike I put on new tires and also installed new wheel bearings (the bike had been sitting for 10 years), then after that I heard about the CBR wheel upgrade, so I'm not changing to CBR wheels till I need new tires and I was wondering if I should change the swingarm at the same time.
