Hi, I have been told that to remove the flat spot/hesitation I would need to have the motorcycle/Power Commander dyno-tuned. This would cost me approx. $350. I obviously don't want to spend any more money than I have to so can anyone tell me if this is true? Also, at what mileage does this motorcycle need the valves checked? I am presently at just over 20,000 miles. If the fuel injection needs service that would be nice to know. I'm forced to do things on a budget so any cost effective solutions would be appreciated. I spent some time looking at the Wingrack 2. I found a used one locally and ordered a pair of the E360 luggage. I opted for the ones that can be color matched so at least they will blend in that respect. Any feedback or pictures of this kind of setup would be nice. Thanks in advance, Milano.

    Hello and welcome aboard.

How about a few more details. What flat spot are your referring to? At what RPM's? You mentioned top end, but might help to narrow that down some. I have the same year as you, and I have no flat spots at all.

Its recommended (by Honda) that valves are checked at 16,000 miles, but several on this board will say you don't need to do it that early. Of course, if your not the original owner and you suspect problems, or something doesn't sound right, then you might want to have them checked. But be advised, US dollars this is probably a $700+ job.

Let us know a little more and I'm sure someone will be able to give you some sound advise.

I too have the same bike, and did feel a flat spot at around 6000 rpm. Especially if I was already at that RPM and then hit the throttle hard, it would be flat until it pulled out of that RPM.
A Power Commander 3 helped some, but not completely. I did not have it professionally tuned though, just put an appropriate map in it.
