Hello everyone, i'm a newbie(to the site and VFR's)..like to thank Michael West ans TOE CUTTER for there help so far...i've been reading the forums and haven't seen anything close...i have an 86 vfr700f2 ..cleaned the carbs but its hard to start till it warms up and boggs out if u try to give it any gas till it runs for 5 or so mins..with the choke down its sems to run better if you push it up (off) it dies..could someone have put the linkage on backwards..also the snorkle is missing..with the choke off it gets way to much gas...can see it and smell it strong...but with the choke on it idles on 2k and runs as if it is off..fuelpump makes a loud and fast clicking sound almost like a lifter..and the rectifier regulator gets hot enough to burn you after ten mins of running..if the battery is weak would that matter at all?...tries to bogg out if its under 2k

Lots of carbs are "cleaned" but fewer are cleaned properly and thoroughly.

No snorkel, no problem, but fuel pump should not click more than once about every 10-15 seconds, so if yours is buzzing all the time, check that fuel filter is not plugged up.

Have a look at your sparking plugs to check for issues.

YES, gas should flow freely as elephant piss from the line if petcock is on and there is fuel in the tank.

The fuel level in the tank will need to be above the petcock for it to free flow. The fuel pump is controlled by a relay (located just above fuel pump) and the relay is only triggered once per engine revolution so it should not run wild. If you power up the fuel pump off the battery it should load up and stop pumping when the bowls are full. It may be helpful to try this as it will let you know if the floats are operating correctly as well if the pump is getting supply or is just failed internally. The black blue wire to battery + and it will run, the green wire is normally ground. It does sound like you have several issues to work through so dont get discouraged as we will get them worked oot.

Anything special about that fuel relay ?

I replaced the stock 3-wire relay with a 4-wire automotive relay. I grounded the extra wire to the frame.

Thanks for all your forum messages!
