    Hi all
My vfr 700 F2 California will not rev past 3500, when the throttle is opened the bike wants to stall. The bike idles fine
I probably know the carbs will need a good cleaning, but is there something so simple that I could have overlooked.
Bike is in a state of semi restoration, and has been stood without any fuel in the carbs for a couple of months. I havejust refitted the fuel system (new lines and filter) after the respray, started the engine, warmed it up and it will not rev.
    HELP please.

    Roger

make sure you have no vacume leaks...... check your voltage to the little black boxes (under the seat) but clean the carbs first eliminate that...your carb boots are probably rock hard and in need of replacement.... and if you have all the california goodies still attached , make sure the vaccume lines are al connected and have no leaks...

    Good luck

its the little black box under the seat ..this operates your pulse generators check electrical connections first, unplug them inspect clean if nessassary apply some dielecrtic grease... plug back in... the problem is "simple" you just have to eliminate all the possibilities...

Check that all 4 cylinders are firing by lightly touch each header pipe; if you can isolate the problem to one cylinder, begin troubleshooting there.

Check that the carb vaccum slides are working and not stuck.

If the bike sat for a long time you may need FRESH fuel.

    Problem solved I think.
When I first got the bike I noticed a pipe from one of the Cali emmision valves seemed to be not connected to the carb, so I connected it.
Today I removed the pipe and the bike now revs.
Now to sort out the wiring from the alternator.
Some dozy prat as cut off the socket that plugs in to the regulator and used spade connectors to attatch them to the regulator plug, the problem is I have noticed the wires get so hot that the insulation has burnt away.
Thanks to all those that replied

    Roger

Do you not use the term "prat" on your side of the pond then?
It's a little more polite than calling someone a complete douche, I suppose
