It's just some sorta manifold I made. It has a bunch of holes and the radi u see is very precise. I haven't the foggiest idea what it does, all i know is that someone is willing to pay for me to make it. I thought maybe some of ya who get a kick out of carbs n such might like the pics. Deburring the holes reminds me alot of cleaning jets.

It looks like it could be a manifold for a natural gas application.... maybe for a "burn off" pipe... they use it for oil wells to burn off the natural gas ... the companies have them around here on the Island that the oil platforms pump tp as well as at the landed storage facility ...Just a guess..

you gonna tell us what they are for

A Haas over a Mazak? WTF?

Mazak; better conversational, more rigid = better surface finishes and faster speeds, better resale.

That part has Integrex J written all over it. Zero fixturing. Part grabber to flip the part and do backwork. DONE IN ONE baby!

true true. Now I admit whole heartedly that you have me there. The 510c in the pic has alot more metal for the frame, column, and saddle. The resale is better as well. HOWEVER! You can't turn a blind eye to the fact that HAAS hasn't changed thier controler scince the mid 90's. Virtualy no learning curve. Our 2007 510c has a max feed of 316 IMP. the 2010 HAAS is 500. (the Haas changes tools faster as well.) And after using both for almost 8mo. now, the simplicity in the HAAS is my prefered choice of machine. I'm not too book smart. When I have a question about what to do (how to describe a heavy tool for example) I'll spend hours trying to figure it out. The hass is half as loud when running too. The Mazak is ALOT more machine yes, but in a run and gun shop the extra mile kinda slows us down. (Besides our money stayed in America.)

Dude - your 510C was built in a 600,000 square foot facility in Florence Kentucky that's been manufacturing machines here since the 80's. You can go there and see them being built by Americans. Not just assembled, machined castings, lasered and bent sheetmetal, spindles, etc... Although it's a Japanese parent company, the money also stays in America. They are the only Japanese machine tool company I know of that's family owned with zero debt.

You get free training with your Mazak, just sign up for a class and get your tail there. Learn how to use it properly and get the most out of it.

The J-200 cost less than what you would pay for a mill and a lathe. Plus the fact that you have no fixturing or second operations, it has the productivity of a lathe and two mills. Businesses that want to continue to run 3axis veriticles will cease to be competitive in the next 10 years. You aren't just competing with Mexico, China, and Taiwan. You'll be competing with the guy across town who's adopted 5 axis machining. BTW, the I and J series are also built in Florence Kentucky.

If your Haas is quieter, it's probably because you can't push it as hard as the Mazak!

I couldn't resist an attempt at dishing out a little friendly shit.

Better for you in the end Karl. People who have already looked at this thread and decided it's about machining LPG manifolds and are uninterested won't be back to help you. Things will be much more organized if you start your own conversation.

Good Luck and will be glad to help.
