Well... things have changed from the old list. Just poked around a bit today and the forum has really good info and easy to search. A thank you to the admin's and forum owner, and all those that ask questions and those that answer them. I bought a 99 with 1 mile on it in 2001. Since then I've put 110K miles on it. I've added a few bits here and there -high mount Remus, Racetech springs and valves, fox twin-clicker and a PCII - and had Mike Velasco do the dyno. Anyway - great forum. /Andy
:welcome: fellow 5g rider Peninsula rider, what where your impressions of the PCll and the famous Mike Velasco, I got my first appointment with him Saturday...:whoo:
OMG RW found a friend LOL Good job, Welcome to the loney bin Ah yes Mike is going to work his magic on mine as well. Cool dude knows his VFRs well. So where the dyno sheet? don't hold back, tell it like it is..
Don't pay to much attention to those crazy Olympia 4g riders. They have always been jealous of the 5g's and secretly wish they had one...
See, the truth is that even when you go on group rides with us you will still be riding solo because you are SO FAR BEHIND! :bounce:
What the truth really is, I should send you a picture of my Ass, because that's all your going see, that's of course if you ever get away from that keyboard and actually get out of Thurston County for once...
I see there is no competion here...Nice responses  Mike Velasco is the V-Four guru. I always like the fact that Mike enjoys his work. I think I would be smiling too if I got to run the piss out of every bike that I touch  The bike had 86K on it when I got the PCII. During the first dyno run a bunch of crap came out of the pipe and nailed one of my friends in the face... The dyno sure does make the VFR work - I have never seen a bike scrunch under load in 4 gear. I was cringing. Cleaned up the curve and got 101.5HP. I actually get better gas miliage commuting now. One thing I noticed was a much better response in the lower rpm's. I was able to walk away the older gen's '92 even at low-mid rpm's.where I was not able to before until I hit the upper rpm's. It felt like a new bike. Oh - the 5th Gen IS the best VFR
Did the custom map today and my god what a difference, and I know what you mean on the cringing part watching Mike take my bike WAY past redline numerous times, but he did manage to get almost five extra HP :thumb: I think it's my best money spent so far on the VFR, but the one mistake I made was talking to David Alexander the suspension guru, looks like I'm getting ready to be a little poorer :frown: Dyno before and after Mike with friend visting from Japan
that's friggin awesome andy! I love to see these stories about high mileage bikes. I have around 45000 on my 98 I think. Most were from other people but the last 10k are mine and in less than a year so I'm working on it... I'd love to have those suspension mods, but right now Im just waiting to get my bike's plastics fixed from a little sliding adventure I had New Years Eve. Welcome to the board.
That's a great curve. You got gains everywhere. Dave Alexander did my front end - what a difference. When you have the money - it's well worth it. You'll find firmer - yet more a more compliant ride. Only problem is once it's setup - no external adjustments. Not a big deal - just sometimes I would love to tweak it without having to drop the forks. /Andy
So I take Rick you're happy with the results? Cool photo. Mike is something else huh? I'm curious how mine will do.
I'm ecstatic about the results, Mike was an awesome guy and we had a lot of fun, I had them put in the K&N and change the oil,(Yes I used Synthetic  ) since they did it for no labor cost, But they do have a policy of no customers in the shop, thank god the Dyno was in a separate area so I could watch Mike work his magic. Here is a couple of pics I took when I was just killing time... Tricked out 999 MV Agusta side view MV Agusta rear view
