Hello: Not new to bikes, but new to the VFR experience. Like 2 days new. Purchased the bike 02/18, picked it up 02/19. An Italian Red 2004 VFR800F. No mods. Edit: Has a Zero Gravity Windscreen. I guess that's a mod. It joins a 1985 Nighthawk 650SC that I bought new. The temperature in Iowa has been in the 40s since I bought it and so far I have only ridden it about 70 miles.:biggrin::biggrin: Nuf said! Lots to learn about VFRs and maybe someday I willbe able to contribute as well.
Chuckie, Chuckie, Chuckie. Don't you know that everyone contributes? Just some more than others. You already have, just by joining us fellows of similar sound minds. But without pictures as Reg elluded to, your contribution is in dire need of improvement. Get with it Chuckie. Welcome to the site Charles.
Thanks! Unlike some buying stories, it was not a long drawn out wait, wanted one forever thing. 02/15: Saw the bike. 02/16: Checked the price, decided to buy it if it rode as good as it looked. 02/17: Rode the bike and it rode as good as it looked. Told the dealer I would take it and wrote the check. 02/18: Picked it up and rode it home. I live about 10 miles from the dealership, but it took me an hour and a half to get home. Got lost on a couple of back roads and it took me about 70 miles to find my way. Thanks! Loving having it in the garage. Hating having it in the garage. It's 39* and raining. :frown: Thanks! So far it has been great. The riding position had me considering risers when I took it for the test ride, but some seat time taught me a little about how to adapt to the riding position. Chances are, the risers won't be needed. Thanks! As far as pictures, I will try to post some in the near future, but right now the bike is squeezed between two cars in the garage and I have no interest in shuffling vehicles in the 39* rain. Just take a look at any Italian Red 2004 VFR800 that looks new, visualize the seat cowl being installed and the grab handles being removed and you have it. Since I ride solo, I thought I liked the looks better with the cowl installed and then the grab handles looked out of place. Of course the fact that I could do those things to the bike even though I wasn't able to ride it didn't have anything to do with it.
Welcome! I'm a noob myself. Also a freak. It was 25 deg out yesterday mornin and no clouds, lots of sun. Just dawn on the ol thermals, cup of joe (or 8) and start turnin wrench! Shoot it would have to be in the negatives before i gave in to weather. But really for me to ride i look for about 45 to 50 in the mornin. Chaps and a carhart coat, man i probably look odd on a sport bike, but u know.... gettin a fix.
I have never been lost....ever....at any time in my whole life. But from time to time, I do explore alternative destinations.
NICE BIKE! :vtr2: :guitar: :amen:  Um, I suppose I should confess that I too have an Italian Red 2004 VFR Interceptor.
Wow Hey me to Charles, I to bought my 02 VFR on 2/18 .. visible upgrades that i knew of is a Sargent Seat, Xenon Lights and i think a Zero gravity wind screen. Got her home late that night but the next day we went out for a 103 mile ride. As i was cleaning after my ride i found more upgrades. Power Commander, K&N Filter and I think the StainTune Exhaust is after market. Anyways she needs some TLC which i have lots of questions about, it to is my first VFR .. and so far I Love it .. Take Care. BTW she to is Italian Red.
Thanks again for all the welcome posts. It's 25 degrees, windy, chance of snow. I just bought a new (to me) motorcycle.:crazy: Do it again in a heartbeat. So I guess Honda must have made more Italian Red VFRs than just mine? So much for the collectible status. I guess I'll just go ahead and ride the thing. :rapture: Probably going to wait until the weather gets a little better, though.
