I downloaded the 2006 manual, and came across this:

"We recommend wheel removal be done
only by your Honda dealer or another
qualified mechanic. Do not attempt to
remove the wheel on your own. Wheel
    removal requires mechanical skill and
    professional tools."

What do they think is so special about the rear wheel removal? I'm guessing it's just the cya nature of our litigious society, but COME ON! Where does one buy the special tools needed for those 4 bolts?

IMHO it's just CYA on their part. One of the many real world beauties of the VFR is having a center stand and a single sided swing arm. It makes real wheel removal/reinstallation about as difficult as brushing your teeth.

"Professionl Tools" required = metric socket (19mm), ratchet, and torque wrench
"Mechanical skill" required = "Lefty loosey / righty tighty"

    Best wishes

There is a set of detailed instruction on a box of tooth picks on how to properly operate a tooth pick and I am sure people can be found that can screw that up as well.

Doesn't all this essentially come down to the Darwin Theory/Awards?

When it was finally realized that too many people are fucking morons, companies had no choice but to put disclaimers on anything and everything.

Maybe a topic for another thread - and I'm sure we've all seen e-mails on the subject - but it would be interesting to start a list of things we come across on a daily basis that manufacturers warn "us" not to do. You know, coffee is hot so don't pour it on your genitalia and you shouldn't use the blow dryer while soaking in the bath tub.

The problem is not so much that there are millions of morons out there, it's that there's about a half dozen lawyers for each one, eager to sue anybody.

What about Q-tips. Have you used them for anything other than digging crap out of your ear? Yet the instructions say to never use them in your ear!!! WTH???
