I have a Shoei RF1000 helmet that I want to get a Yellow face shield for. I see they have "anti-fog" pin insert shields that are not suppose to fog under any conditions. So I'd have to buy the shield w/pins then insert. I've found that I can get the pin shield w/insert for about $70 for both.

Have any of you used these pin insert shields and do they actually work as anti-fog in all (most) situations? I don't mind spending the money if they absolutely work. I have yet to find something to coat the shield with that does work against fogging most of the time.

Yes I've done the liq soap, potato, spit, xyz coatings etc. with mediocre results under heavy moisture conditions. Are these pin-loc shields the "godsend" of anti-fog shields?

I have one that came with my HJC helmet..it works ...it is a pain in the butt to get into/onto the face shield the first couple of times but it does get the visor from fogging... the inserts are not recommended for driving at night..... I tried it just to see why and wasn't completely blinded but the starring effect was outrageous.. so no nighttime use..

As an all year round rider here in the UK ( with our brilliant weather :)) I wouldn't be without my pinlock. It may be expensive but to me it is worth every penny. It only takes a few seconds to change from a coloured one to a plain on my Shoei Multitec

had one in my last lid, never had night fog issues. Here along the Mississippi River it does get humid, and never a problem with it on the inside of my helmet. Uncle has it now, still does him good.

Well I had it with fogging the last few years and now it's my enemy. Crusty what shade of insert do you have? Just wondering why all the starring occurs. That's nice to know, yet seems like a bad deal. I ride more at night than in foggy conditions and I like the Amber day and night.

Then what happens at night you have to take out the insert and your shield fogs? That kind of sucks. I would then have to carry it in the tail section, where it can get scratched and only use it during the day. WTF?

Have you other guys had the same thing happen?

I work shifts so a lot of my riding is done in the dark and of course being the UK wet yet I have never had the starring problem whilst using pin lock providing I keep the visor scratch free
