So I just picked up a 87 vfr700f for 350.00 it runs. But what a basket case. Were do I begin first I had to get a head light assembly got that. Now im really needing the tail light assembly and would like the the whole section its busted I guess I can fix it tho. And also can some on direct me or tell me the basics and tips for a ground zero tune up obviously plugs air filter oil. Please help
First off, a picture is standard issue for new members. If you can fix the tail section that would be best as they have been hard to find for at least a decade. You also made the #1 party foul (aside from spilling bong water on your mom's white carpet) and did not list your location, are we talking a California bike and how many miles? For the most part if you replace the boots on the carbs, clean them, sync them, and adjust the valves it should run like a top. A bullet proof engine but at it's age it does need a little love but not much. Got a pic yet?
TTIWWP's. You will want to download the service manual- it should be in the manual section- that will tell you exactly what you need to do maintenance-wise and at what intervals.
Srry guys im in knoxville tn. Bike has 41k. And I will try pics I do this from my phone and havnt had luck uploading in the past. Thanx for the imput
:welcome: Before going too far into your project, it might be a good idea to do a hot compression test first.....just to see what you're working with.
And also if it is such a basketcase, might be a good idea to make your self a strong mixed drink, have a seat and stare at it a while to figure out what you want to do with it aside from riding it, projects like those are windows of opportunities.
Yea I like it here is my progress so far I have to fix/rebuild the starts cluch the plastic are just on it so I can see what I have done still need paint
