    Hi guys (and gals) :welcome:

for 2009 i thought we could update the sign on and look to organise some rides and get togethers for those interested.

im happy to be the co ord link for this, so to assist with the organising
for those who are currently using the forum who are NZ based please
identify your self and area (if not already stated in you profile).

I will then start building the list.

it would be nice to get some group stuff going,so we can post up on the forum.

for those expats that are out of country, please feel free to sign on also, i will record your details separately.
that way if you return to nz we can hook you up quite easily.

i would like to do a ride & meet some time in late jan/early feb?
so please register your interest for this also.

for those who have recently responded to hopstermans thread "any other kiwis out there' i can note your details on the list to kick start it.

cheers to all, hope you are enjoying the great riding weather.

    :cheersaf:

Hey beagle, nice to see you up again. spread the word round your area if you can. hey, maybe do a ride in to taupo if we can get enough area support.

at this stage for AKL riders & interested parties we are looking at a ride for the weekend of 31 jan/ 1 feb. i have my 3 mates with fireblades interested so would be good to swell the VFR numbers.

also looking at a meet up for the national points round at pukekohe in late feb/early march

and of course at the Westpac Rescue Helicopter run around mid feb.

I will update this thread with the confirmed dates shortly. In the meantime please feel free to register your interest

time to wake up the kiwi's....

Greetings team, well it seems the worst of winter is behind us and we are now entering the(somewhat early) phases of spring.....

to celebrate we took the gen 6's out for a celebratory run around in the Thames, Bay of Plenty and Waikato regions for a couple of days.
a good way to blow out the winter cobwebs and get the ridings skills back into shape.

Here we are just about halfway between MataMata & Te Aroha. We were haulin ass down this road when we came across this junction which of course we had to stop for to take a picky. we were using Peter mitchells " motorcycle atlas of NZ" as a guide, and this particular road, the 'te aroha/gordon road' rates in the top 100 for the book.
its an interesting roller coaster of a road and we actually initially took a wrong turn and went down its replacement.after a while we realised our mistake and turned back to the last junctionwhere we retraced the correct route. it has lots of one lane bridges but otherwise its an interesting and differant route to take for a change.

as a side bar the VFR's returned extraordinary fuel economy travelling at speeds consistently above 140 kmph.....not that we were braking the law...officer..

The weather played the game nicely, with an average ambient air temp around 11-12 degrees C all day, and the engines of course loved these slightly cooler conditions. in this pic were on the coastline at Kaiaua. the inland roads from kawa kawa bay to kaiaua are still a little mossy on the liegh side of the lanes so take it easy if your heading through there.it wasnt to bad for us as our side of the lane was the most exposed to sunlight so it didnt look as 'green as the inside lane. once we get daylightsavings and some consistant sun going this route will clear up.
its a great set of twisties!

lastly here we are doin the obligatory visor clean outside the Tahuna School.
we noticed that the local police were doing a school visit at the time, so you can see the patrol car in the schoolgrounds in the background. we had a great run from here across to ohinewai where we rejoined with SH1 and headed to mercer for coffee and debrief.

well thats it for our first road trip this season. were off to a good start with the weather so far. So whats the rest of you been up to huh????

    Hey Deano,

I'm origionally from the UK but emigrated over here 18 months ago. We had a few days in Queenstown three weeks ago and stopped in Cromwell to take a picture of the big fruits welcoming you to Cromwell. Sure looks a nice place and if you're ever planning a ride up this way shout up

    All the best

Hey Deano, thanks for the email,i've not been on any rallies yet although i plan on doing so this year if time allows. I put the wife on the back today and we headed down to Geraldine for a couple of hours. It was a good ride from where we live 320k's all in all. We've ridden to Kaikoura and also Akaroa so a run down to Timaru way would be good.
    Anyway safe riding mate cheers

    Hey Mate,

I see this is almost 2 years out of date, but I'm out at Papakura (and out of the country at the moment). I knew about this website but I haven't really had a good look through it. I did the other day and found out how awesome it is! i.e. Helpful, friendly etc. (pretty much the opposite of Kiwibiker!).

Anyway, I'll be back in Auckland in a few months so I'll keep me in the loop if you guys are getting up to anything.

hey Paul, good to hear from ya!....yep, were still around so keep in the loop and let me know when you get back to NZ!

i hear ya about kiwibiker.....thers some real of A-holes in there, which is a shame for all the normal people they have there.
But VFRW is probably the best biker forum i have found and even tho im on a CB 1300 at the mo im happy to stay here.
