Hi everyone, this is my first post on this Forum.

I am currently building a VFR (1999) for track use. I started with a bare frame and a "car kit" (motor,FI,electronics, cooling etc).

The bike is sitting on the bench at the shop ( I have many other track bikes setups going on at the same time), while its waiting for more parts to complete the build.

Recently someone local offered me a complete 2007 swing-arm unit with shock, wheel brakes etc.

The price is asking is fair and I thought about buy it.

    My question is:

I know they changed the bike quite a bit in between 2001 and 2002+ ....

Is the swing arm unit interchangeable(bolt-on) in between 2001 and 2007 models?

I mean I can do quite a bit of fabrication at the shop, but if its too much trouble to retrofit a 07 arm in a 98-01 model I will just wait for a 98-01 arm on fleabay.

your input would be really appreciated , the 07 arm is a decent deal and I wouldn't want to miss it if it actually fits my 1999.

    Cheers

thanks, but if you have the ability to come up with a 100% sure answer, it would be great...its just that I would feel very sorry that you'd have to buy me beer, and even more sorry having to drink Coors "beer" ;-)

I will try to remember to throw a tape measure on my bikes when I get home. The gen 2 has a 2001 swing arm on it.

I thought they were different but I wasn't gonna argue with John cause he sure as hell knows a lot more than me on that. On the plus side, though. Wasn't there someone offering to sell a 5th gen swingarm on here after they lost interest in a build just a few months ago?
