All this explains perfectly why the wife says I act 30 years younger after a weekend dirt bike outing.

Ahhhh yes the smell of fresh wild flowers in the morning with a hint of dew and cow manure. I love the country air, very stress relieving.

Looks like this persons stresses must be high and still carries them on their ride. No Meditation for someone like this. I hope they don't have a CCW too!

The ride was the fix for my cramp.

The foot cramp/spasm came on after a particularly busy 12hr nightshift scooting from workstation to workstation on a roller chair. After 3 days of foot arch pain was talked into what ended up being a particularly involving ride leading a mate on "his" new Gixxer through the local tight twisties, can't imagine better therapy and cheaper than my physio.

Re focuses and clears the eyes for distance.

Have found yet another advantage to riding a motorcycle, refocusing the eyes for distance. May not be the same effect for those that live in scenic mountainous Country but my normal life commuting from the Suburbs into the city and normally only looking ahead maybe 200 yards was about 250 miles into a 400 mile ride Thursday when I realised how much further through the scenery and sharper I was seeing especially after we reached the high speed sweepers at tootle speed, this striking re focus is something I simply don't get driving in the country.

On a meetup point remarked to a fellow rider how much further and clearer I was suddenly seeing he agreed confirming even though he lived in the middle of our Royal National Park it was rare for him to be focusing so far in the distance for so long or mind feeling so uncluttered.

Another advantage: Looking forward to the riding season always has me working on getting fit. I dropped about 30 lbs. in anticipation of buying my VFR in 2008/2009. Then every year, I am losing my "winter coat" and dropping about 10 lbs. or so. I just like being fit when I ride and it feels like I'm part of the bike more.

As extracted from a TV Interview with him:

" DR CHARLIE TEO: This is my philosophy on motorbikes. I know people think it's a bit odd that a neurosurgeon, a brain surgeon, should be riding a motorbike. We would often be called in as registrars to see motorbike riders who had had head injuries. And it was very odd often times when I would turn up to the emergency room in my leathers with a helmet, saying that I was the neurosurgeon and people would think, You're not the neurosurgeon. I'm sure you're a friend of the patient who's had a motorbike accident.

But I love my motorbike, and if God or our maker put us on earth to enjoy a certain number of thrills before we die then I've achieved all my thrills in a very short time and I can die a happy man any time. "
