i too have an 02 with 20k miles, no issues.

maybe start off with a new chain & sprockets, tyres, & fluids. Install an auto-chain oiler "scotts'. those iron butt contestants use those.
Change engine oil & filter when you get to one coast or at your turning point.

The most I have ever logged on one bike is on my gen 2 @100k, taking into consideration the 25-30 other bikes I have had 250k+ is as close as one can guess.

I checked out scottoilers recently. Genius. Talk about a long-distance must-have.

Thanks for all the input; helps pass the day while I'm entombed in all this damnéd snow.

I have 66K on my 1996 viffer. no problems. I've noticed the new dual compound tires western powersports has are GREAT!
I do have a 24K mile engine sitting on my shelf.... just waiting for the day I turn 100K!! may not need it, but it is my insurance policy :)

On the other hand, I worded this post poorly, so thanks to all who responded, sarcastic or otherwise.

    you'll get used to it.

I racked up on my F3 21K in less than 2 years, about the same on my 900RR in 9 years, and not nearly enough on this VFR. We'll just say compared to most here, my '06 is still "new."

The UK delivery guy put 900K on his 3rd gen. New motor at 450K...They just don't last..

Damn, those 3rd gens just don't hold up like the new bikes! ;) I'm shooting for 100K on my 98, then I don't know. Maybe I'll get a new bike. I have never had a brand new bike. It would have to be something special, though. I'm not in love with any of them out there right now.

I just calculated real quick....I looked this thread up because I was feeling:frown: about turning over 30k the other day. I feel like I joyride a lot, and I did 5500 in my first year of owning the VFR. I can do the same mileage for the next ten years and only have 85k on the odo. And people are saying they run well into the 100's. That's hilarious.
