I usually twist the throttle and put some distance between us
If he persists, I go another way

Brake checking in front of a douche is a good way to ruin your bike and your day

Shouldn't flipping him the bird come in somewhere in the process? Isn't that mandatory or something?

Yep, that is a good one. Almost information overload in fact, and yet another act of derring-do and holy retribution towards evil-doers.. less the Spandex tights by SuperCyborg.. Who will now probably tell me he is gonna beat the crap outa me again.

make sure you consult crusty on the appropriate level of self defense you should employ. A flying kick to the head while wearing Nike's might be unwarranted in this instance.

If I am unwilling to pull away for fear of a ticket, I will usually tap the brake slightly, not enough to stop but to flash the brake lights a few times. Sometimes that wakes them up and they back off, otherwise do what I can to let them by. No matter how right I may be and wrong they may be, if they are in a car/truck/SUV I am going to lose any pissing contest with my 500lb bike.

Sucks, as it isn't what I do in a car, but I want to see my kids grow up.

Just knowing that Crusty can fly should be fair warning to anyone who tailgates him.

I am happy to hear the "new" Cyborg has substituted mayhem with snitching. Then standing around while the heat busts a nutcase chica who now has his name and with a little lookup where he works, lives and hangs out. Unless of course the whole thing was just made up and like the story, embellished with hearsay.

OK now. Crusty and Tink. Stop this bickering. I can't stand it. I won't sleep now for weeks.

And Tinkerbell, you are far too aggressive.

But back to the question. My heart says all those nasty things like ball bearings, hammering the brakes and throttle. Spraying paint and or Greece. But all those tricks may do more than what you intended like cause Mr Scottie Tissue Receptacle, to do something and take some totally innocent party along with him.

Getting out of his way is the best option. But if you are going to pull over, be cautious abut dick weed and what he may do. Always have an out. I like the Blue tooth in the helmet thing. "Trick or treat. Here;s the heat. Grab a hunk of the curb asshole. Someone has some paper printed just for you."

Really, what are you people doing to these cagers to get them so pissed? Hmmmm? Maybe buzzing six inches from their door or something? I am not saying you did, but if your behavior is bringing on shit, dont be surprised when it happens. Just sayin. Its poor form playing the victim then.

I really dont see the issue, but I dont have any anecdotes that involve anything more than a person in a car momentarily bugging me. I can be so far away so quickly, fit into spaces the car never could, and make them appear so small in the mirror so fast that I can stop and take a shit before they catch up.

I have seen guys in a pack all doing triple digits pass unsuspecting old ladies in their Crown Vics and damn near give them a heart attack. And I have been party to it....safety in numbers and all that....Were we being assclowns? Oh yes..... And of course the occasional redneck asshat in his jacked p/u being an asshat, its what they do.

Get away.........fast........its the advantage you have. You can be three blocks over and two blocks down in a driveway before they can get to the intersection, you can be miles away just like that.

    Let the flames begin.......

The OP inferred that the tailgater was purposely on his ass for some reason, real or otherwise. I have become a master at non-chalant perfectly timed lane changes to "pick" the tailgater, as you would in playing basketball, and prevent them from following. Moving into spaces too small for autos is a huge advantage.

However many times the offending driver is NOT doing it on purpose - they are just a dumb sh!t who are daydreaming, on a cell phone, or they just follow Everyone too close All the time, and you just happen to be in front of them this time. Pick your poison here, as a mild brake-check is great practice to wake them up when you are in a cage, but not too smart on your ride. You can also just roll out of the throttle slowly until they finally wake up and change lanes to go tailgate someone else.

If you had a harley, you could just rev the engine to max RPM's, and if the noise didn't chase them back, maybe all the oil spewing out would.

Did you know that to put your diesel into neutral while at a traffic light and rolling onto the throttle, will make that annoying boom box beside you roll up the window?
