    Hello or good morning :)

I am from Austria, driving a vfr800 build 1998, sorry for my english, its the first time that i visit a english forum ;)

Maybe you can help me with my brake problem :( , i bought the vfr last year in the end of November.
I don´t have driven it since that ( and before only the way home from the seller )
Last week i started to mount the center stand, holy moly is this a shitty work :),
the whole exhaust system has to build off. But this has also a good thing... i saw the bulls... which the seller did :(
The Valve cover gasket is leaky, on the right side the clutch cover gasket i think is also leaky, buuuuut the biggest problem is the front brake.
Something happened there, the brake disc was grinding over the caliper ( google translation see the picture )

The spacers are on the right places, the brake discs have no wave or something like that, the fork is also not damaged.

I also don´t know when this was happening, i don´t hear or feel something ( ok, i go with the vfr only 200km )
The seller told me that the ... has been new painted.

    Maybe you can help me?

what condition are the brake pads.... and with the front wheel in place can you roll the wheel and see the rotor rub? it sounds like the spacers are off....

If I rememeber correctly the spacers are different sizes so check and make sure they were put in correctly on both sides. You should be able to see the parts schematic on BikeBandit.com or download the service manual by clicking the downloads link at the top of the page.

ck the spacers, but it would seem to me that the fork tubes are twisted in the triple clamps.
put the front wheel back together w/ brakes.
Loosen up the bolts on the triple clamps ( block the bike so they dont slide down while working ) straiten everything back up and retighten.
kinda like a bycycle when you hit something w/ the front wheel hard.

I want to add a +1 to what the previous posters said about checking the spacers and the forks, however, if the rotor was rubbing like that you would have noticed significant abnormal wear on the rotor itself. Is this a previous problem that you are just now finding evidence of and everything is properly aligned, or do you currently have a rotor contact problem with the forks. Definately do check to see if the rotor is currently rubbing the fork before digging too deep into trying to repair something that may have allready been repaired. Good luck and :welcome: (your english seems just fine BTW)

    Could be this

    Hi,

When I re-did my front suspension, upon re-assembly the disk was hitting the fork.

After a short time I realised the wheel was the wrong way around.

Worth a check if your disk is hitting the fork.

in a good Condition, but i take teh pads out, because they are sinter ( disc eater ) Now i can roll the wheel and i can hear it scratch a little bit. i don´t know when it happened, its possible that this happened before i bought it, but now i saw it. hm... spacers... maybe, i can check this when the right brake is mounted. Buuuuuuuuut if the right spacer is off ( you mean not right condition? ), the wheel can not scratch at this place??? Maybe the right ball bearing is not in correct position... remember the seller has painted the wheel, then there was paint in the bearing seat, the bearing will be bit more out of the wheel-->the wheel would be more left. i have to mount the right brake, then i will see... i hope. :( there was no love for my vfr in the past

    Good morning everbody.

My Problem is not longer a problem :) i found some mistakes and now i works like it should.
First, there was no correct mount of the axis, and the fork was not the same length ( one was higher)

Now, i am waiting for the brake caliper sleeves, both are cracked, left and right.
Valve cover gasket is in progress, and the right side i have to see where the oil comes from.

Something to do too get right started :)

    Greats druxx
