I'm sure most of you have had to deal with this guy... You know, the guy that' pissed for whatever reason...something he thinks you did in the course of riding along minding your own business...maybe he hasn't had any for a while...whatever.
Now, you look in your mirror and he's on your ass, too close...

How do you deal with this asshole?

Down shift; no brakes, right before a corner. Or pull over and let the azzwipe go by.

+ 1  Get off the road if someone is following you like. Then, once they are gone you can ride again and not worry about it.

Agreed 100% with Bubba. I know it doesn't really help the feeling of rage you get (been there plenty of times), but pulling to the side and letting the moron pass really is the best option. Even though tearing him out of his car and beating him senseless would make you feel vindicated, it probably wouldn't be the best possible choice of action.

Move over and let him go. If he wants to stay and pick a fight, I usually
    carry a .40

Thanks for the responses, I think in my mind I'd like to have gone with Bewst, but, being that lane splitting is legal in California, I split lanes at the next light and never saw him again.

I've heard the old timers used to keep large ball bearings, old spark plugs, pinballs and other such window breaking deterrents...not my style but I'm sure they were effective to a point!

I'm not sure, but if I don't recognize that guy, does it mean that I am that guy. Oh dear.

who said anything about brandishing? Go ahead and keep putting words in my mouth and trying to paint me out to be an evil villain. I have no desire or need to fight anyone. As I said in my post, I'd pull over and let the guy go. However, if the guy wants to road rage when I attempt to let him go, I'm not going to give my life up for it.

Walk softly and carry a big stick

fair enough but, seriously, if the guy pulls over after you do. gets out screaming at you, that is no justification for pulling out the pistol ... fist fight is a fist fight. leave your helmet on and let him swing away. he goes to jail you go on your merry way...

and in honesty, if the douche pulls over when I do... its a quick down shift twist and gone.....pull over at the next gas station ...

Thanks for that advice. I'll print that out and file it with my books I have regarding the legal ramifications of self defense and firearms. Maybe I can forward your post to Massad Ayoob as he may want to add that the next time In The Gravest Extreme goes to print? You think a fist fight has never ended in someone being killed or permanently injured? I quit that shit back in grade school.

If someone wants to start up with violence, I'll send them your way and we'll look for the next episode of UFC on YouTube.

Right wrist twist until it hits the stop, split lanes or whatever you need to do, problem goes away.

I am currently installing oil tanks on my bike so when people stay too close, I can hit a NOS look-alike button and spray the road with oil, James Bond style. Then when they drive through the oil, they will crash. And I will be on my merry way. Do not copy my idea.

I had a road-rager after me about 2 weeks ago, she was LOTS of fun! Long story short, the no license, no insurance dumbass with a Failure to Appear warrant found out a rider with a helmet blue-toothed to a cell has no problem calling 911...
