    Hi gang,
I'm new to VFRs and have a 07, 800 with 2000 miles on it. I am not new to going fast but this is the first real new sport bike with a full faring and a lot more stable than my old Cafe recers. I've had it up to 147 mph for a very short time and wes amazed at how rock solid it feels at that speed. My question is what happens after 150 mph? Does it float, shake, rattle and roll? Also, is there any tendancy to get handel bar shake at those speeds? Need to know before I kill myself.

a tad more if you are going by the speedo, 148 - 152 is about all youwill get GPS verified.
other wise it will stay rock solid untill you hit something.

    Corrected 1/4 mile: 11.14 sec at 122.00 mph 0 - 60: 3.2 sec 0 - 100: 7.1 sec. Top Speed: 170.3 mph at 12000 rpm in 12.2 sec on a dyno.

Theres a video on you tube of this being done also. If you google you will find 5 or 6 different sites with the info your looking for and all are close to what Ive posted.

Best I have had mine to is 158mph indicated and it was a bit of a run to squeak that oot. Just as steady as it was in a parking lot. Have not run it oot since Motads and new map but it is much more fun to ride with the new found power so i assume it will do better.

Think i'll take my GPS on the next run and just watch the road and tach. Flew over the SkyWay bridge in Tampa at 143 mph. What a trip!

Things start to look like that Star Wars scene when they go to light speed. The rivers run with blood and the Kraken is released.

All good reasons to do it.

I totally buy the 170mph, but not in 12 seconds. That's more like my 1198...

The 5th gen stays pretty solid.
You feel a higher resonance vibration from the road because you are going over it so fast, but no head shake or rattles or anything.
I agree with Bear about the Star Wars light speed stuff. Make sure you can see WAYYYYY ahead of you, it comes up quick.

Its was on a dyno for the top speed test . Heck a Hyabusa at 9.7 sec is 146 in the quarter mile. no way a 800 cc bike can do 170 in 12 sec.

There is another thread talking about top speed. Unmodified (or lightly modified), there are verified speeds for the 'Ceptor. Dyno doesn't deal with that pesky air stuff...

    http://vfrworld.com/forums/general-vfr-discussions/18481-vfr-top-speed-19.html#post188052

Anyway, as has been said, if your speedo read 147, you've got maybe 10-15 more to go (on the speedo), and you'll be maxed out (even though the speedo will be wrong, as also verified on the other thread).

And it won't feel much different in those last 10-15 mph's.

THE most important thing to know before you try to top out your 800 is where the cops hang out. :biggrin1:

I got mine up to 145ish and I've been 160ish in my car(not my current camry 4 banger) and it's a totally different animal, wow, I thought the whole blurring thing was just in the movies but on a bike I saw the blur, in my car, not so much but I guess that's the difference of having a cage around you and twice the wheels... I don't think I would want to top out my viffer, 145ish was as fast as I need to go. it would get me to places in half the time if I were to do it all the way to my destination though...
