New to the fourm and very excited about my new project. I just picked up one of the bikes that I have wanted since it came out, an 86 VFR. Had a Saber V45 twenty years ago and that was cool but not a VFR.

Well the bike I got is a little rough but the pirce was right, FREE. It has mostly has lived a life of neglectful storage. The body work is rough but the rest of the bike is in surprisingly good shape. It has been down and that is where the plastics have been poorly repaired and painted via rattle can. So I will be on the hunt for fairing pieces and small tidbits.

I plan to restore it to a very clean rider in RWB with some modern updates.

So now that I have been searching every where my first question is this, where can I find the correct paint for the clutch, valve and mag covers in the correct bronze wrinkle finish for the F2 model.

    Thanks for all your help
    Darren

This should put you on the right track:

    Honda Paint Codes

Why not just repaint everything? Stock paintjobs were invented by Commie Pinkos. Maybe not, but they sure are boring.

I think you are boned if your looking for a dead match to that paint, it is very unique and I have never found a substitute for it.

Tech shit but sometimes heat and age will change the look (hue and chroma) of paint. One example on body color is several of the reds on stockers.

HD sells some rattlecan engine paints that are good. I don't know who makes them. Guessing Sherwin-Williams.

Sorry, no titty-pink.. We can only hope..

Thanks everyone, If i can find close match that would work for me as I will paint all of the covers. I will try the HD route and see what they have and report back what I find out.

And Fredsncoma I will be taking the bike apart this weekend and I will start formulate a list of things I will need.

    Cheers for now

Welcome aboard. I don't have anything constructive to offer regarding your resto, but would love to see before/after pics.

I will take some pics soon before I start and see how long it takes to finish it off. The bigest problem is going to be finding good body work. The bike has been down on both sides and has crappy repairs to the fairing and cowls. Infact it would be nice to repace everything so the search begins for good pieces. Also I will have to sort out the mounting hardware as some of it, am sure, is not right.

There is a guy in Sacramento that does great work and is an old VFR lover that does paint and body repair. He is not cheap but his work is the best I have seen and he is currently painting my luggage. I am in Sacramento and am willing to lend a hand where I can and Super Tex is in Fairfield with fairly large stash of parts as well.

Oh man. I practically got a b^%er reading that list. These were all bikes that I dreamed about, watched and admired in my early teens before I finally got a bike when I was 16. No 125's? Can't fault you i guess in light of what you do have!

I hope that you can post pictures sometime. You just go to Photos and upload them there. You don't have to resize them. After their loaded you open them up in the big window in the photo section and right click. Select Copy Image Location and paste that into the Load Images of a post.
