Greetings fellow bikers, I live in the south-west U.K. and have just put a deposit down on a 1988 VFR750 FG Japanese import. It's tidy for the year, 35000 miles and a rather natty RVF paintjob.

Passed my test a year ago and this is my third bike. I started with a CG125, then went on to a CB400NA which I have just sold (thankfully) as I really didn't get on with it.

I found myself wanting more power and better brakes and being a Honda fan and an 80's bike fan I stumbled across this bike on eeebay. After a good few hours researching the model I decided it was the way to go and I can barely wait!!! Picking her up a week today. I'm like a kid at christmas scratching the days off the calendar and barely sleeping from being too excited. What a geek!

If anyone has any specific info about the 1988 Japanese FG then I'd be glad to hear it. It's difficult to research online since most UK 1988 models are FJ and have completely different engine numbers. Mine starts RC07E102**** which makes Gooogle think it's a VF750!

    Cheers, Sallymander

Welcome! Best of luck with the new toy it sounds like you found a nice bike. I just saw an episode of Top Gear where the boys went on a camping holiday in Cornwall :) Looks nice there.

    Thanks everyone!

It's beautiful down here. It's not a large area but there are some great roads, beaches galore, cliffs, moorland, fantastic surf and some great local food and beers

Not seen that episode of Top Gear, I'll have to root it out! I just watched the one where they drive through Florida to New Orleans I think and nearly get killed for having silly things written on the sides of their cars. So funny!

This was the British Top Gear on BBC. They built campers on different cars. The one guy built a 3 story flat on the back of a Citron. Too funny. Anyway have fun carving up those roads on the bike:)

There's another Top Gear not on the BBC? It's not Top Gear if it doesn't have Jeremy Clarkson (love him or hate him!)

    Cheers now, I will.

Yes there is an American version of Top Gear now but I think the original is better.
