Past 185mph indicated (buried) on my '84 1000. Long downhill leading to a left sweeper. Front felt a bit squirrely, but not horrible for street tires. Figure "real" speed was past 165mph. Fastest on a track was 170ish at PIR on a modified FZR1000.

Most motorcycle speedometers are optimistic. I put my GPS in the top of my tank bag on longer rides and at a steady 87 indicated on the dash I was actually going 80 mph. If you want to see what the top end is most GPS’s have an option that holds your top speed. Fastest I’ve gone on the VFR is 125. The bike was very stable at that speed and would have gone faster but we ran out of straight road. My friend borrowed my GPS and recorded 170 on his modified ZX-10.

130 MPH on 6th Gen., pretty sure there was plenty of bike left but my courage faded. It's white, the fastest color, so it could prolly do 200 or so easy

I've seen 157mph indicated on I-10 no traffic, but as mentioned earlier I checked the speedo with my GPS on another trip and found it was close to 10% off. So I think 140-145 is more realistic. I'll have to find another place to put the GPS for a top speed run as I cant lay on the tank with the bag in the way.

I know your kidding but after reading your post I thought of a video and a picture that I have seen in the past, can't find the picture but it is a picture of a guy going into a left turn getting ready to lowside with his girl on the back in shorts, half shirt and sandals on her feet...

That photo was reprinted in the letters section of the Dec. Issue of Sport Rider. Used that photo to explain ot my girls why they're not going for a ride untill I get around to getting them some gear.
    Bit off topic, but...

My speedo indicated betwee 145-150. Didn't want to spend too long looking at it to make sure what it was really reading. This was a year and a half ago, and it was caused by my buddy on his fairly new GSXR 600 blasting past me, while I got caught in some light traffic. It was about 0100, and we were on our way home from work. I dropped 2 gears when the traffic was clear and shot past him. He was fairly surprised. That is the only time I've been that fast. I'm either going to drop a tooth to the front, or add two to the rear. I don't ever spend any time above 120 now. It's to risky, and the roads aren't built for it here. In Vegas, there were a few good roads for high speed runs.

    Good ride today

It reached about 55 deg F today so took off down to the beach road. Rode about 50 miles by the beach, stopped for awhile and took stroll by the water. Returned back home. Was sunny and temp just right comfortable with insulated cortex pants and riding jacket. It is always riding season here in North west Fl. Just realized I am not in appropriate thread for my post. So the fastest I've seen is 105 on speedo. About as fast as I want to go. BBuck

Gang, sorry to bust anyones bubble, but speedometers gt pretty optomistic after 135mph. if you break 150 on a VFR, you're doing pretty good. If you really break 170, get w/me and I'll sponser you for a land speed record run in 750 class.

Found out the speed-o isn't to far off during the dyno runs there's a second speed-o thats runs off the actual machine, I'm sure its calibrated right into the whole dyno as these runs are done in 6th What I saw twice was 132 and 134 at aprox. 10,000rpm which if you're able to pull redline gets my 4th G to about 148-150 so my 152mph I thought I saw wasn't so far off.
