I'm just about to install my new thermostatic switch and just for peace of mind I'm going to also install the manual fan switch. Does anyone have a diagram of some sort?

Mainly I'm just wondering if i can pigtail the hot wire with another one right at the connector for the thermo switch and run it up to the manual switch and just throw a ground wire on the switch and attach it to a random screw mount

You just need to close the circuit for the fan to run. Running a wire to both sides of the thermo switch and then to the on/off switch will get it done.

Thanks, the other explanations I read before were quite a bit less straight forward than that.

Mainly you need is a SPST (Single Pole, Single Throw) on-off switch and two "piggy-back spade connectors" in order not to cut and/or solder wires.
    Image here is descriptive.
Connection is as TOE CUTTER said.
