Just bought a 2000, and I am trying to get it registered in CA. The bike is from Nevada. I am going through AAA, and the last thing they need is to see the second vin on the frame. I know the first one is on the steering head, but is there a second vin on the bike? Anyone know where it is?
    Thanks

I am thinking it is the engine number they are asking aboot, been through this ordeal myself. The engine VIN is part of the title and needs to be verified, as important as the frame number. On gen5 some asshole decided to stamp it on the back of the case, aboot impossible to see if not just that. Behind the rear head on the top of the case, good luck. Your gonna need it. And some tools.

Yeah, they needed that too! So we got mileage, vin, engine #, make, model, and I still need 2nd vin or federal safety stamp. They will take either one. If I can't find vin or stamp, I have to order one from honda. Silly isn't it.

Not sure. Which side is it on. I don't have anything on the frame under the tank.

My '99 VFR 5th Gen did have the frame tag that Toe Cutter is talking about. It was on the aluminum frame just below the tank. I ended up removing it because it was a sticker. That could be your problem. It could have been removed.

I just dug up an old picture of my '99. It is on the left side just under the tank. You can't miss it. I removed mine with a hair dryer then stuck it in the owner's manual. It's worth a shot to check there.

You may want to go to a different DMV office and start over. I will travel to a small town DMV for sticky matters as they tend to be way more willing to just roll with it as goofy stuff like this does not land in thier lap to often. Where are you located? One of the members has a friend at DMV that may help if it is just this simple, small town DMV and she drinks Coors. Central valley area.
