i feel all warm and fuzzy after readin that, and seeing that awesome pic of the 2 rwb's.
i really hope ill be able to say the same one day. my dad is 67 and he has no urge whatsoever to throw a leg over my bike. he had a cb305? back in the day that he modded the hell out of. i think he said he punched it out to about 350cc, bigger carbs and stuff, but i dont think hes been on a bike in decades. but that was back in the days that honda's fastest bike (cb750?) couldnt touch a 426 hemi cuda or road runner. so he probably never got quite as into bikes as i have...

DSCN0343.jpg I just turned 24 and own a 2000 VFR. I absolutely love vfr's, they are the best motorcycles in the world. I bought my bike in September and look forward to continuing to learn everything I possibly can on the infamous VFR!

I was ~24 when I first fell in love with a VFR, but it wasn't until last year (at 31) that I finally managed to get one.......had to graduate from my baby-bike first. I would go so far as to say that if it weren't for the 4th + 5th Gen VFRs, I'd have never fallen in love with sportbikes.

And squirrelman......your post was awesome, nicely said!

I think I counted more 5th gens with the young crowd. Maybe cause its the best bang for the buck $$? Also we might need to set a standard on what age qualifies I vote around mid 30 ish.
Here is what I came up with also counted those with 2 bikes and If you were over 40 you got left out sorry.
    1st Gen 1
    2nd Gen 0
    3rd Gen 1
    4th Gen 1
    5th Gen 10
    6th Gen 5
I could have miss counted if so don't blast me too much.

Well I'm in the majority of youngins who owns a 5th gen and I will definitely say it is a bang for the buck kinda deal. They tend to cost 2500-3500 depending on mileage and condition, and I was really drawn to the classic gear driven cam sound after I rode my buddys '96 which was done away with on the 6th gen. I'd also argue that the 5th gen is the best looking VFR ever made, but that is all personal preference. I was a little scared away by the vtec on the 6th gen bikes as I've heard mixed feelings on the whole bit.

i would agree on the 5th gen having the most bang for the buck. I picked up mine in perfect condition (garaged since the 1st owner) with 13000 for 4k. It was my xgirlfriend's brother in law so he let me pay him monthly without financing. Maybe the wrong place but would a vf1000r thats been sitting outside for years for $800 be a good deal? Everything needs to be checked and changed but it's an awesome rare classic bike.

You cannot be Tyler Durden. Flash back, you will see............. and then you will know.....5th gens rule. And Metallican sucks peanut butter, get over it, you bought the gimmicky bike. The rest of us have the real bikes. And the poor Shamu guys, well, you will never know the bliss.

Really, if it comes down to it, if you ride and arent an asshat, doesnt matter how old you are. Age is a number.

But yeah, bang for the buck, 5th gens rawk.

Yeah I would be careful with the 1000R that's been sitting In the weather for years. Just count on having to go through everything on it.

Just turned 20 and I'm the proud owner of an 87 700. My dad bought the bike for me on the first day of my senior year of high school about 2.5 years ago.

I like riding a bike that is older than I am...everybody is shocked when I tell them it was built in the 80s!

I'm a very young 36 years here... best of the 1st gens with an '86 VFR 750 - all original from the ground up. Just did my second carb synch on her cause I put 8,500 miles on since I first tagged her back in March '10. Followed up the sync with an idle drop (something I didn't do back then) and hoooooooly crap what a difference! I include this because the fact that she will now lift her front wheel up off the ground in 1st and 2nd gears made me have to ride her around town showing off to whoever I could get to look my way. Got some nods from the young crowd, some nasty looks from the snow birds, and plenty of drools from the chicks! After about an hour I decided that I was probably pushing my luck and would eventually end up goosing it right past a Sheriff's Deputy or Mesa PD cruiser, so I headed back to the house and called it a day. The crazy teenager feeling lasted about 30 minutes after I climbed off the bike. It's amazing that something so beautiful as a RWB VFR can inspire and invigorate someone so much... and the fact that the bike is 25 yrs old...

    I have an idea...

how about a "young guns vs old guys" thread? I think it might be well worth the effort

(I'm the same age as my 1986 700)
