Have not tried to remove the battery - it's completely dead so I am charging it at lunch. Do I only need to unscrew the screws with a Phillips head screw driver and the battery comes out? I am unsure if there is a hold down, etc. Thanks!

I have an 02, it has a rubber strap that goes over the batterey. You un hook one end then remove the 2 #3 phillips screws, just don't forget there are 2 nuts in the battery post so dont loose them

Thanks, thank was easy! No strap on mine? Battery is 100% dead. I can't even get one of the better chargers to charge it up. It was a DieHard battery but the bike was outside, under a waterproof cover for the past 3 months with the trickle charged removed (someone stole it). So it makes sense. Any recommendation on a good, inexpensive battery? Should I go DieHard again?

go with what you can afford Yusa. die hard, walmart special....have you topped off the battery? with distilled water? that might bring it back to life . or How old ids the diehard> it may still be under warranty from sears.....you might be able to get a new one for nothing or at least prorated if its not that old...

With it completely dead, it's not even worth trying to bring back, especially with the possibility of running heated gear among my other accessories. The DieHard came with the bike, purchase by the prior owner.

My discounted price on the Yuasa is $6 more than the Bikemaster Gel battery (I have great friends at the local bike shop). Bikemaster has a 2 year warranty, Yuasa has 6 months. Go figure. I am still prob going with the Yuasa at this point.
