    Hi,

I'm looking at a 2004 VFR with Honda original hard bags, bike is original and stock. It has 10,500 miles one owner. I have a few questions to ask you guys (and gals) in the know:

    1. On a 6th gen am I likely to have any problem with the regulator/rectifier?

    2. Would you recommend a Power Commander to reduce/eliminate the throttle 'twitchiness'? I read other threads here about it, and noticed it on a test ride.

    3. Anything else that I should look for/question?

    3. OK, what's a good price? It's pretty close to where I live, so no need for travel or transportation to pick it up.

    Thanks

    1. The 6th gen VFR’s have less of a problem with the R/R’s than previous generations.
    2. I’ve heard that a power commander will smooth out the throttle twitchness. I was planning on getting one right after I got my ’04 last year. However, after riding it for a while I didn’t notice the twitchness and a power commander dropped to a lower priority.
    3. Just general used bike stuff. Does the owner have any service records? Does it look like it has been taken care of?
    4. I think the price depends more on your location. Bikes tend to be a little pricey where I live so was looking in Denver and Dallas. Look at the NADA price and go from there.

I’m sure you’ll get a lot of opinions just make sure it’s the bike you want.

    Good luck!

Check that the frame tab that stops the bar from turning back and forth is not dented or marked in any way. Its an old bike evaluation trick that can't be hidden if they have a hard front end crash, most don't know it either... . Obviously look for peg feelers/mirrors/bar ends etc...

Thanks for the input. I've looked at a few 4th and 5th and 6th gens but, today I 'bit the bullet'. Bought a new 2006 VFR in black (pearl black, looks graphite grey actually). Yes it's a 2006, but I like the color and the specs are the same as the '07's. I saw the RWB and the new red at the dealer, but I like the black. Zero miles on the clock. Didn't get the bags yet, but I'm going to decide later. (by the way, dealer still has 2 blacks and a white on the floor for those of you lusting, and 6 '07 reds in crates that he showed me. Honda ships them assembled! I like that.

I may try to drill out the cans as per VFRdicussion posting, but I have a question about the Staintunes. Do you have to cut the OE pipe to do the 'slip on' or do the Staintunes have the down tube connector pipe?

I guess I'll do a Power Commander as well at some point, but ride it stock for a while to decide what else may be needed!

    Cheers.

Congrats on your new ride! I like the look of the stock pipes myself on the 06. Just cut, hollow out and reweld......!:lever:
