I got a 02 VFR 800 with a little charger element on the side out of the fairing. Where can i get a trickle charger to hook it up?

Just guessing here but most commonly this would be a two pin flat connector, one pin is bare while the other is enclosed in the same covering as the the connector. If this is what you have, it's universal for a Battery Tender brand float charger/maintainer. Available at any MC store and most sporting goods departments of variety stores.

    Charger Suggestion

I use the DieHard motorcycle charger I bought at Sears with no issues. Hooks right up to a Battery Tender connection. For some of us, that may be easier to work out. Motorcycle shops in my area keep pretty weak hours, or I work too much!!

What ever you do make sure you get a charger that shuts off when the battery is full. Some cheap ones will just keep charging away and fry your battery.

I hope this doesn't sound too obvious, but check the existing bike plug with a voltmeter; don't trust the wire colors (assuming that it has different colors). There is never any telling how it was hooked by the previous owner. If is a heated apparel connection, it might even be relay-switched by the ignition being on or off, which means that it can't be used for a trickle charger anyway.

If you read voltage (~12.8) with the key off, it will work.
