vfr headlight switch upgrade

    Well i have an idea and my friend help me make an electronic device to make a switch that it turn on the headlights as i wanted to turn it off, from always on factory design.

    The all thing is now the headlights is always off and when i want to turn them on i just push the signal continuously or the switch of the big headlights and in 3 sec it comes alive..
    the time limit is for the daytime as the signal still working.

    Why would you want to turn a safety feature off, out of interest?

    Agreed. Your headlights are of incredible importance during daylight hours. As a matter of fact, I put HID lights in my high beams and also run my high beams "ALL" the time during daylight hours. Here in Canada, daytime running lights are a requirement and have been since around 1990. All vehicles sold in Canada are required to have daytime running lights if manufactured after that time.

    I can remember my father, who was a travelling salesman back in the 50's and 60's. always turned on his headlights. And because he did, so did I. If you are going to make any kind of mods to your headlights, think HID or if you remain with incandescent, wire in a hi/low modulator. I believe you will find that even though this type of devise is generally illegal, most jurisdictions have an exemption for motorcycles.

    I strongly advise against deactivating your lights. In an unfortunate case where you get hurt because of someone Else's actions, the courts are going to look at what you did, determine you readied your own level of safety to a degree, and make a judgement accordingly.

    I must admit, I wouldn't want to turn my lights off.

    I have never thought about putting a HID kit in, I think the lights on their own (dipped) are excellent.

    Something to consider though. HID's are bright. If you put them in your low beams, you will likely get many people flashing you. I did from the beginning because of the four light system. You will certainly get more if you put HID's on the lows. That is why I initially put mine only in the highs. I don't make much use of them at night cause the are bright enough to usher in the next solar system. But use them almost 100% of the time during daylight hours when the more light you have, the more visible you are, thus the safer from cagers who drive around with their heads up their collective asses.

    I also have a flashing module on my brake lights as well. I think that makes a bit of a difference as well. Except that personally, I think they should flash a bit faster.

    Having said all that, I intend on putting HID's in my lows as well. Fuggem I say....fuggem all.

    I get people flashing me anyway, and I don't have the main beam on.

    Anything that increases visibility is a good thing in my book. I've had too-many near misses to turn my lights off!
