Hello everyone. I am a new owner of a 2006 pearl white VFR. I think I got a pretty sweet deal on it. $4500 with less than 5K miles on it. Owner threw in complete set of hard luggage, full cover, new windscreen (still in box), new tires (300 miles on them), bar end cruise control and a tank of gas. Bike is showroom clean...couldn't pass it up.

The only thing missing was the rear seat cowl. He couldn't locate it and I am now looking for one. Looked on ebay and craigs list...I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

    Thanks!

no clue, you could just paint it yourself w/ color match. I have done it a few times as long as you clear coat it a few times it looks good

Thanks for the replies guys. I will look into the carbon fiber one and possibly consider the black one as well. I am thinking I am going to add some graphics to the bike as it is a solid pearl white now. I kind of want some airbrushing done to it. Anyone have any experience with that or can point out anyone's VFR here that has had such work done so I have some idea of how well it works out?

For a quickie fix buy the black cowl, rub it out with some of that elcheapo red rubbing compound found at most auto stores to knock off the gloss and it will "match" your seat.

A carbon fibre seat cowl since the price wasn't quoted will probably be a budget stretcher.

Graphics? Google up "painted motorcycles" -"motorcycle graphics" ect.. Of late many up to date signage shops can cut custom graphics from scanned artwork.

BTW, skulls, swastikas, iron crosses and vote for GWB are out.

Airbrushing works out just fine on a VFR Antagonist.

    My gas tank.

    My seat cowl.

I had my paintwork done five years ago by Shawn Hansen of Shark Signs and Designs in Delafield Wisconsin.
The Stoshmonster playing card with the image of Jack Nicholson as the Joker and the word Jokermobile on the gas tank are decals,as is the hand of cards and the words Jokers Wild on the seat cowl. With the exception of the c/f gas cap cover everything else you see is paint.
Look closely and you'll see that Shawn actually airbrushed the decals to highlight them just a bit before he shot the clearcoat.

The waving checkered flag by itself is stunning enough, but by layering my Screamin' Demon Jokers, poker chips, dice, playing cards, etc.over the top you get paintwork with visual depth.
By laying the decals last and then spraying the clearcoat over them you get just a bit of texture because the clearcoat now has to "raise up" as it goes over the decals. This has the benefit of creating a really cool 3D optical illusion effect as it makes the decals appear to sort of "float" above the paintwork.
Shawn and I thoroughly discussed all this in detail before he ever shot any paint on my gas tank or seat cowl.

Just some food for thought as you plan the design for your paintwork Antagonist. Good Luck.
Remember my friend "the sky's the limit" so have at 'er man!

So Stosh. Someone else did the painting but who came up with the design? If it was you, how accurate did you have to be. OR was it a copilation between you and the painter>

Very Nice Indeed!!! I have a white unit, and it seems to just shout canvas. I was toying with the idea of a "Dark" superman theme or an urban graffiti motif. The thought of the graffiti interests me...because It would be actual graffiti. I have laid out some ideas in photoshop to get an idea of what it would look like and on a computer screen it looks good. If I did the graffiti, I would leave lots of the pearl white area's untouched and do the graffiti itself in black with sections in chameleon paint. I have the Scorpion helmet that is white with chameleon graphics so it seemed a good combo. Any thoughts?

That graffiti idea is kinda neat. I would have to see it first though. I have sen some real nice graffiti but have also seen some real shit. SO long as you put it on your own property and no one Else's though, it really doesn't mater what I think of it does it. Post up when done. I am really interested in seeing the end result. Maybe so hint of red or blue in there as well. You know. Just highlights. For instance, My new Shoei looks black in the pix but when you see it in person, there is a dark red flake in it as well. Major cool factor. Didn't know it would be there until I got it.

Yea, the downside to the graffiti is that I'd have to locate someone with the kind of "style" that I'm looking for. I don't want a bike full of gang tags! haha. Your idea of color accents is why I would do some of the graphics in chameleon paint. I have never really been a fan of it until I got my helmet. The effect is really subtle and adds accents depending on your angle. It also gives it a weird 3D effect. I guess what I envision is a set of graffiti graphics that appears to "float" over the paint. If I can pull that off, I think it would look incredible. I have also mocked up the Dark Superman motif in photoshop and I'm really digging that as well. Maybe if there was a way to combine the two...I'd be a happy camper. I think I will ask on some sites like Deviant Art and see if any of those young artistic minded types can come up with a fusion of the two ideas that work.
