welcome to the world first...... Second :worthless: Third...what you are looking at replacing is gold, you know what they say about gold... anyway, your probably not gonna find them laying around, they are plastic and REALLY old.. bit the bullet and get them at your shop a 70 dollar investment into what you have is not a bad thing.. body parts are the same way..... you'll just have to keep an eye out on flea bay or order a whole set from a few different sources....one site you will get them rather quickly but you have to do some cutting, the other one you will be waiting for a long time , but all the holes come cut drilled Etc..... check the 1st gen /2nd gen section. there is a sticky on the body panel replacements

That is negative bueno on the carbs, they are tricky if you are not used to messing with them. Post a pic of what you have when you can.

there is a trick to putting these bastards back on as well as taking them off...none involve a big hammer or any kind of hitting...... new insulators will make it a ton easier to put the carbs back on when you are finished with them....
Post up pictures of your way through it anyway , someone might see something different that will help them of visa versa

take a pic.. email it to yourself.. save on your computer.. upload it to photobucket.
PB will give you 4 codes for the pic.
click on IMG code. and it will copy the code..
then paste the code on your thread.. and presto.. the pic will show up when you hit post.
    like so...[IMG]

Busted fairings can almost always be fixed-----if you have ALL the bits and pieces.

Plastic welding the proppa way or with a soldering iron or ABS glue..............or duct tape.

You'll need the Honda service manual, no matter how long you've been fiddling with bikes.

I've got a complete set of carbs for parts only (one of the carb bodies is cracked) and missing the float bowl gaskets. The rest is all good (jets neddles, diaphrams and all tubes) if you're interested. CHEAP.

it could be the sensor, the one on my 85 500 was bad and the previous owner just rigged up a toggle switch because the sensors aren't too cheap

    Right !!

Best thing is the toggle switch as the temp sensors are just as unreliable as the R/R, maybe more.
